Verrucae - yes / no / cover it ?

Hiya all
My client who is having a break from her IUI cycle for sub-fertility is having reflexology from me, but she has emailed me to say she has a verruca ! This will be her 4th treatment. She has asked to have Indian Head instead which is not a problem but for future reference - I know we were told about contra-indications etc but having been now in this situation I would probably be inclined to cover the foot with a plaster, depending how severe it is and of course how many there were. Would you offer another treatment instead of the reflexology or would you treat with the verruca covered or not treat at all if they were only interested in reflexology and no other treatment. I do hope all that made sense!

Hi Tracey,
I'd work anyway, being mindful of cleaning hands throughly, helps the body to get rid! it would be interesting to know where on the foot it is and which foot, as it could be very useful info!!!
emotionally I would link them to spots of deep seated anger and frustration....is it on the left foot by any chance???

Banana skin taped to the foot overnight can help as can Thuja.

Hi Lisa
It is on her right foot on the heel - just below sciatic nerve area. I have read this is relating to emotional problems - she says she is finding itincreasingly difficult to get her head around the IUI treatment and being unable to have children.
Hence her wanting to have reflexology to unwind and she said she does feel better for it.

mmm,
very interesting, how supported does she feel by her partner throughout this?...as appearing here on the right foot would suggest she feels she needs more support from a male in her life, could also relate to some old issues around "Dad"....without being able to see the rest of the feet its a hard one to read for sure, I'd suspect its the first from a foot reading point of view.......also around the heel line can indicate a subconcious fear of falling pregnant...strangely enough[&:]....I've seen this quite often on sub fertility clients too!despite this they've gone on to fall pregnant after a few reflex sessions

Hello both of you! When you said where the lady's verruca was Tracey, I thought 'Aha!', same as Lisa. I am only really a dabbler in foot reading, but sometimes things really do jump out and my intuition boinks me over the head with a great big sandbag to get me to pay attention . (Believe it or not, I met Lisa at a workshop on using your intuition! ). However, getting back to the subject here I am thinking along the same lines as Lisa. I really do believe that some women are very fearful of pregnancy because it is a time when you are not in control of your body! I also feel very much in women who are struggling to get pregnant that there can be a perceived lack of support from their husband/partner. In situations of subfertility I believe that a man's response is more likely to be 'oh well, never mind, it would be nice if it happened but it's not the end of the world' whereas women who are trying to conceive have tremendous biological urges to be a mum. I am not trying to generalise here, but that is how I perceive things. I can see how subfertility can place such a strain on relationships. As a reflexologist I am intrigued by the fact that have only ever treated ONE couple who were having trouble conceiving ie both partners. It is known that fertility issues are just as likely to rest with the male partner as with the female, yet I always see the ladies.

Sorry, I have rambled a bit here but this is my six pence worth for your consideration! And my conclusion is yes, I would treat a person with a verruca observing strict hygiene measures.

I will email her and suggest the hubby has treatment - in fact no - I will see her tomorrow anyway so i will subtly mention it then! You are right though- people tend to forget about the men - they play a huge part well 50% !! in this conceiving business don't they !!

Interestingly, I always advise that I treat both partners....afterall its a team effort!.... not all men decide to come along, but I do point out that its a very good idea at the point of starting the journey with a couple!

I love working in this area, its so rewarding.............
it does mean that I have lots of ladies with bumps and babies around the place....including half my colleagues!!!!

Hi there, fascinating reading about the foot reading aspects!!

On a practical level though, we were taught that you could treat them but should just cover the verruca. One of the girls at college used TCP spray on plaster which she said was brilliant as normal plasters tended to come off quite easily, especially if you were using some sort of medium!

Would love to hear that this particular client gets some good news soon!
