Viagra is the bomb, but i was just wondering since ive never bought it in TJ, but do they sell it in singles, so you won't have to carry around a perscription and if so, how much per pill and at what strength...50 MML, 100...ect..or can you ask for the strenth you want?

I might be talking out of my ass here, but isn't it true that most of the farmacias will write you a valid Mexican prescription on the spot, step down the counter and sell you the drug right there? Point being...you've got the drug and the Rx all from the same shop for one low price...if you need them. That was my understanding of the situation...someone please correct me if I am wrong on this.

Also, for those concerned about safety/quality...I've been buying Cialis and/or Viagra from India for a while now and never had any issues with them that I didn't also have with pills manufactured here in N. America...same drugs made cheaper, faster, I guess.

Kittyfreak...my experiences with V/C/L are similar.

Vigara: rock hard, shortest duration, headaches.
Cialis: earthquake style major headaches, hard-onscome and go, doesn't always work when meeded, long duration (up to 26 hours).
Livtra: works best, fewest side effects, medium duration, nice bonus the next morning.

Your comments about not drinking are right on. Alcohol may interfer with effectiveness. The same is true of fatty foods, like lobster with butter. They are most effective and works fastest when taken on a empty stomach.

As you say, drink plenty of water. Also, if you are prone to headaches then "beat the rush" and take a couple of Asprin while taking the V/C/L tablet. Having a ramrod straight rifle is no good if you are out of bullets.

V/C/L don't mix well with other drugs--legal and illegal. Viagra started as a new blood pressure medication. They found it has an "interesting side effect" and the rest is history. So it can be leathal mixed with certain other drugs that impact bp.

Finally, while V/C/L help you get and maintain an errection they have nothing to do with seminal fluid production. So they can't help you "have a second cup of coffee." Having a ramrod straight rifle and having bullets for your rifle are totally different.

Great posts Warren8 and Burt2020! These guys nailed all the pertinent points.

IMHO if you are under 45-50 years old and healthy you shouldn't even play with this stuff. Though i am still in my sexual prime (early to mid 30s) as I get older and wiser I am less inclined to try to fuck 3-4 girls a night and to try to be Superman, so this stuff is just overkill.

I have tried all three and the results were:

Viagra: a rock hard, numb cock and difficulty cumming. Very frustrating!

Cialis: headaches, jitteriness, and hard-ons like a 13 year old. Potentially embarrassing the next day back at home or work! They say up to 36 hours effectiveness for a full dose but I observed that my hard-ons would go back to about normal after about 24 hours.

Levitra: I agree it is the best of the three. It is also the most expensive. I had some minor headache trouble and felt a little shaky on the stuff. A mild recommend and only if you really need it (ie for whatever reason you are having genuine performance problems).

For all three, if you are using them DO NOT DRINK BOOZE! Your liver and kidneys will thank you. And drink plenty of water.

The Tourist Guide published by the City of Tijuana gives the fines for some common offenses. http://www.tijuana.gob.mx/Turismo/TouristGuide/English/pag6.asp

It says the fine for "activities related to drugs or prostitution" is $41.12 to $123.38. So I doubt you'd be in too much trouble with the judge for having personal usage quantities of Viagara, etc. in your possession.

You are allowed to bring personal usage quantities of medication with you while traveling in Mexico. This, of course, is vague and I don't know if it includes Viagra type medications. Obviously it doesn't cover meds bought in Mexico--the subject of the original question. My best guess is you need to carry the medication in a perscription bottle or have a copy of the Rx. Again, this "loophole" won't protect you if you bought the medication in Mexico.

It pretty much confirms what I thought would be true about carrying prescription drugs without a prescription. The claim was that no prescription was required, but it looks like it does. Now the only question is whether a judge in TJ would let you go for this crime?

This topic comes up on all the boards from time to time. My understanding is that the letter of Mexican law requires a Rx from a Mexican physician to buy Vigara, Cialis and Levitra (V/C/L) as they are category four prescription medications. (Cialis's registration number, for example, is 181M2002 SSA IV.) Granted the law is seldom enforced (unless one is a tourist) and that even pharmacists will tell you a Rx isn't needed. (Which is partly true: they don't need a Rx to sell V/C/L to you.)

II. Medicamentos que requieren para su adquisiciَn receta médica que deberل retenerse en la farmacia que la surta y ser registrada en los libros de control que al efecto se lleven;
III. Medicamentos que sَlo puedan adquirirse con receta médica que se podrل surtir hasta tres veces;

Medications fall into one of several categories (or schedules):

Category I medications may only be taken with permission of the Secretary of Health. Usually they are experimental drugs.

Category II drugs require the pharmacy to keep records on who bought the medication. They will probably keep your Rx and you will need a new Rx each time you visit the pharmacy.

Category III medications are limited to three refills. Obviously records should be kept by the pharmacy.

Category IV medications require an Rx from a Mexican physician. However, the pharmacy is not required to keep records about who bought the medication.

Category V medications do not require an Rx. They can only be sold in a pharmacy.

Category VI medications do not require an Rx. Their sale in not restricted to a pharmacy (think of something like Aspirin sold in grocery stores).

In many Latin American countries so many people lack money to visit physicians that pharmacists often provide medical care. Hence laws requiring a person to have an Rx are seldom enforced. The pharmacy may even tell you that you don't need an Rx for Category IV--> medication. However, the law is on the books and an "enterprising cop" can use it to extort money. (Fortunately, this seldom happens.)

Most prescription medications--including Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra--are Category IV medication. (Cialis's registration number, for example, is 181M2002 SSA IV.) The regulation above says these medications require a prescription from a Mexican physician and that it can be refilled as many times as the doctor indicates. Since record keeping by the pharmacy is not required for Category IV medications many people and pharmacies say an Rx is not required. While this is correct in practice, it is not correct legally.

My TJ Amigos post includes the name and address of a Mexican physician who wrote me a Rx for Levitra. He charged me $30.00.

In many places I've given this advice: If you are going to buy V/C/L without a Rx keep an eye out for cops. It is best to use a pharmacy that isn't near the Zona or Revolucion. When buying V/C/L also buy a Coke. Take the tablet before leaving the pharmacy. (Leave the box behind.) If you are spotted leaving the pharmacy you can claim you just bought a Coke.

Very nice explanation of the three options. For what it's worth, this old dog has been using V with great success for a number of years. I've had success with generics too tho some are better than others. I for one don't worry about purchasing Rx in Mexico. I've done it many times and never had any trouble. You are wise to be cautious, but I wouldn't be too worried over this. If so, buy a supply, walk back across the border and store it in your car, then come back with 1 pill in your pocket or belly. US Customs folks don't seem to care. I have placed my bag with Rx on their little counter while seeking re-entry. They just asked if it was for personal use. I said yes. He then just waved me on. This is without scripts. I'm more nervous bringing Habana puros in than Vit V. Just my .02.

Regarding this subject, a guy on another website has been claiming that carrying Viagra is not illegal in TJ. The claim is that if the TJ cops try to arrest you that you can fight it and win because it is not against the law. It doesn't sound true to me. Of Viaga, Cialis, and Levitra, which I sometimes call "helpers," I prefer Levitra. What follows I've learned either through personal experience or by talking with a physician about these medications.

When a man is young he gets an erection just by seeing pretty girl, thinking about sex, etc. As one ages that stops. Also, as a man ages he reaches the point (often around 45) where he needs tactile stimulation to have an erection. If you have erectile dysfunction (ED) even seeing a pretty girl in bed without her clothes ready to do the deed may not be enough to produce an erection. Also, as one ages erections cease to be "rock hard" making penetration more difficult or impossible, what we mature gentlemen refer to as the dreaded "limp dick" syndrome. Viaga, Cialis, and Levitra help with these problems. They won't make you perform like a teenager, but you can expect to perform like a guy in his late twenties or early thirties. You can expect to have an erection in response to visual stimulation and one that facilitates penetration. If you don't have ED, meaning you can get a satisfactory erection through visual stimulation, then you don't need these medications.

Common side effects with "helpers" include headaches, dry mouth, stuffy nose, and flushed face. Uncommon side effects include strokes and heart attacks.

Viagra tends to produce a major, unnatural hard-on. (Levitra provides a more natural erection.) 100 mg is the largest Viagra dose; many people split the table taking either 50 mg or 25 mg doses.

Levitra is very similar to Viagra but is the least likely of the three to produce side effects. With Levitra 20 mg is the largest dose. Guys also split Levitra, taking 10 mg.

Viagra and Levitra will work in about 30 minutes and last four to six hours. Levitra works a little faster and lasts a little longer. Levitra also often provides a morning bonus the next day when you first wake up. (Nice when doing an all night session.)

Cialis lasts up to 36 hours. I'm one of those that experience side effects with Cialis. I get migraine type headaches for 3 whole days after taking Cialis. (So I don't use it anymore.) Also, for me Cialis produces spontaneous and unpredictable erections. I get a hard on while eating dinner only to have it disappear in the middle of a session. I'd use Cialis for extended trips to the Zona if I didn't experience sever head aches, and if it worked for me.

These "helpers" are great at assisting a man get an erection. Some guys take them because they want multiple pops, but that isn't how they work. They increase blood flow making erections possible. They do nothing to increase seminal fluid production. If you can't have multiple pops then you need something that increases testosterone production; these "helpers" don't.

I suggest taking Aspirin, Tylenol, etc. at the same time you take Viagra/Levitra/Cialis to help prevent headaches. They work best when taken on an empty stomach. Fatty foods--like lobster with butter sauce--tend to interfere with their performance. So does alcohol for some people. (I'm one of them, so I only drink water and sodas when playing in the Zona.)

Viagra/Levitra/Cialis interact with other medications and alcohol. Guys taking bp medication should be especially careful. There are guys who've gone to the Zona and had major problems and/or died because they mixed "helpers" with other medications, recreational drugs, and/or alcohol. (I personally know two guys who've had stokes by partaking of this mix.)

If you have high blood pressure, are taking blood pressure medication, are overweight, have past your mid-40s, etc. you really should consult a doctor before using "helpers." They work by changing blood pressure, which is why they are so dangerous when mixed with something else--like bp meds--that also impacts blood pressure. More than one guy has had a stoke or heart attack through using "helpers."

Elsewhere I've posted about Dr. Romero, who for $30.00 will write an Rx for anything you tell him your US doctor has prescribed. It is wise to have an Rx from a Mexican doctor when carrying medication in Tijuana. The next best thing is to take it in the pharmacy, after being sure a cop didn't watch you enter. I always also buy a coke and leave drinking it as I feel it helps protect me against being searched when spotted by a cop who hopes I bought medication without an Rx. (It is also fun to ruin their day by letting them stop you and then producing an Rx.)

You will get better prices buying these meds at a pharmacy that isn't next to the border or on Revolucion. Pharmacies in Otay have the best price--because they are too far away for tourists to visit. When near the Zona I use the Fenex Pharmacy at 8th and Revolucion (kitty corner from San Bourns) or Discount Pharmacy on Constitution around 6th. As I post, these places charge about $11.00 for a 20 mg Levitra tablet. It's been too long since I've used Viagra or Cialis for me to provide current price information about them.

My advice...take it or leave it but...I wouldn't touch the stuff, especially the generics in foreign countries like Mexico! God knows where that stuff was manufactured???
