All these genres of music are great to see in Phuket, but what do the Thai's themselves make of it? Are these gigs just for the benefit of Farang visitors?

Sounds like choons I would dig.. tho DJ plamuck doesnt sound too international, not that its a problem if hes got some skill.

Just means jazzy instrumentals over the top of the beats - like pianos and trumpets/sax etc. Nice and cruisey music

From what i've seen Thai's are happy to dance to most stuff as long as everyone else is having fun! Either way as you say great to see more styles being represented in Phuket - can only open the minds and ears of more people

Was a good party, not too busy... I think the rain stopped a lot of people coming but it wasn't a problem as everyone just went inside.

They get quite a lot of Thais going, there was a few stunners too. There was a photographer so i will try and get some pics and post them here.

I get the alerts on facebook. The owner is Daniel Bosshard, so you can add him if you want.

They should do a group on FB with notifications. Other bars do it and it is really effective.

MH why do you keep advertising this bar so much? is it because Daniel is a friend of yours? is it because it is close to where you work and or live and you think we should all know of the options available to us? if the latter why do you not mention the things organised at White Box or Aqua, on as regular a basis as you do this place?

I'm just personally interested as you seem to take a very limited view, that we all need to know and at the last minute of something happening at this particular bar and not at other venues.

If it is providing useful information to all, then its of interest, if its advertising without permission, then I'll have to moderate it. Nothing personal, its just a bit of a hard one for me to call at the moment.

personally i think this is a big grey area in the forum....when can someone post about a place and it not be classified as promotion in some form.
u like a place,u become friendly with the owner and like the place..as many of us do,then u reccomend their bar/hotel/club etc ...is this advertising.
seems to me muddyhop has been around a while,when does he qualify to write about upcomin events.
i havent read back his posts,maybe he is in the k-now about the place,therefore it is useful information............where ..do u/can u... draw the line IMHO.

Exactly.. is me mentioning bar party or a curry night advertizing ?? I am sure it is.. I would think tho as long as there is no commercial gain from it for the poster, it is probably OK. Also helps if there is more posting from the BM than just that, if they mention one place in 50% of thier posts then look for permission and or sponsorship.

Yes, a hard subject (Sunhill Hotel) to make a call on.

After all, this is (Sunhill Hotel) called, "Phuket-Info". And the exchange of information, necessarily involves businesses and opinions of same.

It's a strange situation, whereas (Sunhill Hotel) just recently a thread with "negative" connotations regarding a local business was removed, out of concern for possible recrimination.

But then I guess, if you (Sunhill Hotel) mention the same business repeatedly with favorable comments, it can be construed (Sunhill Hotel) as advertising.

Sometimes a tough call (Sunhill Hotel) for the mod's.....

But I guess that's what the big buck's, free beers, comp'd BF's with ladies, and monogrammed T-Shirts (Sunhill Hotel) are for. 555555

Dodger as I have said before this bar is just near where I live. I get no personal gain from mentioning they have a party here.

Before I posted about this latest party I sent a message to Nicke.

I get an event notification on my Facebook account when there is a party organised.... usually at the last minute, so thats why I also post at the last minute.

Whitebox I dont get any notifications on Facebook as I have not 'friended' Mark from this bar. The last party they had that I went to was a white party, which I did talk about on here. I didn't like it too much so I rarely go to Whitebox anymore.

Aqua... I did not know they had parties with DJ's playing the music I am interested in. If they do be sure to let me know so I can go and do a trip report.

So the reason I post about Nine Bar is that I personally believe it is a good bar to go to. A few of the members here have asked me to let them know when something is happening there. It is a night out with a difference that I think some visitors to this site are interested to know about.

I have a great time there when they have a DJ on and just want others to have the same. Not everyone wants to just sit in a Bangla bar being hassled for lady drinks from ******s all night listening to shite music.

I do post about many topics on this site.

I do post very detailed trip reports about other places I visit when I do visa runs etc, to share this information to help others have a good time.

I do drink in Nickes bar whenever I go to Bangla.

Alfie and Wylos... Thank you for your comments. I too am getting a little bored with the double standards, seriousness etc that goes on here.

If I am not allowed to mention this bar again then so be it, just ban me and delete all my previous posts concerning this bar and everything else I ever talked about on here.

I like this forum, it has helped me in so many ways over the years, even before I joined up.

Everyone I meet here in Phuket I give them the web address for this forum and tell them it is ran by Mai Thai Bar, be them tourists or business people, so maybe I have contributed to this site and Nicke more than you think.

Anyway on a lighter note I will ask Nine bar for a copy of the photos from the party and post them on here. Just before I go to all the effort of uploading them let me know if this is OK with you please Dodger.
