Years in business: One
What do you offer and to whom? I offer therapeutic and relaxation massage to the general public.
Why? What motivates you? Until I enrolled in massage school, I had never had a massage before. Initially, I wanted to learn how to give a professional massage, but as my studies evolved, I felt changes in my muscles, and I became a believer. I have scoliosis, and as my fellow classmates massaged the muscles of my back as part of my studies, I became a believer. Massage brings about real change. I am first-hand proof of this, and I want to utilize my skills to help those who can benefit from massage, which is practically everyone.
What sets you apart? I strive to make my clients feel comfortable and safe while on my table. My technique and flow is gentle and relaxing and allows the client's mind to wander into a deep, restorative rest. I'm also skilled in using deep pressure and incorporating table Thai massage with clients who are experienced in these modalities, or who are willing to try something new. In either case, communication is key. I've had clients fall asleep during deep muscle work.
What mark do you hope to make on your community? I offer a Wellness Wednesday, through which I offer four sliding-scale appointments to those in need every Wednesday. I aim to bring attention to the benefits of massage and emphasize that massage is not just for the upper-class. Massage can be a beneficial part to any self-care routine!
