whats the story in the shipwreck bar?

I have been going to the shipwreck bar the last few nights, spent 5000 baht last night lady drinks ringing bell etc, the girls there are lovely and I would be happy to take any one of about 4 of them long long time, but they dont seem interested? One girl last night was telling me they dont go with customers and you cant pay barfine, this really suprised me, as a first time visitor to phuket I was under the impression that all the girls in bars along bangla were looking for a boyfriend for the night or longer. I realise there are hundreds of other bars around and I have been approaced by plenty of other girls but am curious about the shipwreck, do these girls just not like me or does this bar operate differantly? Money is not really an issue and I would be happy to pay whatever, remember girls in aus cost 7500 baht per hour so all night and the next day for whatever the cost is no problem. I know you guys saw 1000 is enough and I have no problem with this, but money doesnt seem to be the answer with these girls. Am I being played if so to what end if they dont want to go with me. Ok I spent 5k last night but would happily have spent double that having dinner, drinks, presents etc with the right girl.

The Shipwreck is a straight bar and its staff are there to serve drinks.They are not bar girls and cannot be bar fined out of the joint.I use the place every time I am down in Bangla and know John the owner and Eddie his side kick.The girls all work there under the understanding that they do not go out with customers.no:

I think this is why I like the place.It is hassle free and the staff are good looking and quick with the service.

So,you are not ugly,or an oxnoxious drunk, you are just one of many guys who likes those beautiful unobtainable staff.:aan:

Suggestion - try inviting three of them out to an early lunch (they don't start work until 530pm.)

Have been a regular to this bar since first trip to LOS
Big John has made this bar hassle free and now go out with customers.
And that is his consept .That is the reason why so manny people like Crustian,myself and many other like this bar.
A round at the staff will cost you ca 500 Bath and
you will get good service for that,just remember one for Eddie to.

If you want to get nown better with DA and the other girls ask them out for food afther closing time.
If you are a good friend of them they will go with you,but dont expect more , and have resept for that.

Thanks for the info, I was charged 1400 baht for a round of staff drinks last night but that was for 12 -13 drinks? I dont know how many exactly but all the girls got one. It seems like I might have to go looking else where for girls, but how can these girls make a living just working the bar, one told me she is only paid 5000baht a month, dam she could earn that in a night with me:biggrinlo

Not all girls in Thailand are single mom's from North East Thailand that desperatly need to take care of their whole family.

Now i didnt speak with the staff but i would guess there are many season workers down there too (With normal jobs) that works during the tourism peak and then go back home to Bangkok to continue with the studies or whatever they may be doing.

Last year I saw 3 girls (not the most beautifull ones) from Rock Hard working in the bar on the corner of soi Bangla and Soi Katoey (where the LB's are dancing). They told me that with tips they made more there than going with customers in Rock Hard. But then again, as they were no beauties they were BF'd maybe 3 - 4 times a month.
They told they had every day 1000-2000 Baht tips.

Yes and remember Shipwreck is not only a Night bar,its a lot of people there
from early day time and in the early afternoons to late nights.
The staff are going two shift,and have change 5 o,clock in the evening.
And the ordinary custommers is grown-up people who go there for a good beer and a chat.
I think they have the right kind of custommers and the staff getting the money they deserve.
So i will think and hope the tip money is good there.

The Shipwreck's policy since day one has been a "hassle free, hustle free" bar. Nobody ever pulls a fast one on any customer, ever !!! The staff there are some of the friendliest you will find anywhere. As far as you ringing the bell to the tune of 5,000 Baht in the last night or two, I would like to know what time of day did this occur ??? I know each and every one of those girls, some for many years. Their boss treats them very well and many stay on for years. If I may say, you sound like the typical tourist who thinks all Thai women are for sale. This reveals you to be just another sex tourist who thinks everyone can be bought just by "allegedly" splashing a bit of money around. The Shipwreck is a fine establishment, the owner has been in Thailand 19 years and has done business on Bagla for the last 10 years and his dear friend and assistant is involved in various other businesses around Thailand for the last 20 years. Next time you stop by, might I suggest you find yourself a "friend" for the evening then stop by and introduce yourself to either John or Eddy and see what you could learn about the place from a couple of guys who have a combined experience of 40 years !!! I guarantee you will be glad you did, just as other board members have already attested too !!! When you are tired of the hassle and the hustle you know where to go.................

i would have to admit, i would think that any bar on bangla would have bg's working there.

Siamkid, I am a little suprised by your strong reaction. I was simply asking the question and my intention was not to be disrespectfull to the owner or any of the girls. The girls dont seem to find me rude or obnoctious so I am at a loss to understand why you do. And for your information with regard to being a sex tourist, I have been here 8 days only but have not bar fined a girl yet, the reason for this is I like to find a girl I can have a good chat with in english, someone I like rather than just pick any girl from a soi.
Probably the best night I have had was last night at Kangaroo bar, played the dice game with a sweet young thing, who incidently doesnt go with customers. It for me anyway is not about just coming to patong for sex, but for the company and flirting with the pretty young things. Maybe I am the unusal one? I don't need to calm down as I was never angry, I was merely trying to clarify what I interpreted as a misconception according to the words that were written. I know very well that this place can be very confusing for a first timer.

My apologies if what I wrote came off as a bit strong but I do realize that when it's all said and done we all come here for a good time !!!

Planter, no offense meant, again, hope you have a great holiday and perhaps I'll see one night down at the "Wreck" for a few cold one's !!! Just identify yourself to the staff as they are aware of who you are and they will make the proper introductions provided we are lucky enough to cross each others path !!!

shipwrecked is a great place. Aon and Pen are probably some of the best looking girls on Bangla rd. If you see them rubbing their elbow or knee in pain, DON'T try to rub it for them or you will get a swift punch. Odd sense of humour they have.
