Where Is A Good Cleen Safe Place To Say In Chaing Mai For Around
1000 To 1200 Baht Per Night,
And Not So Far From The Night Life,
Can Any One Hellp Pleas..

I stayed at Top North Guesthose in December 06. Low standard and little old. But cheap and close to the Temples, Night Bazaar and Nightlife

Top north hotel around the corner is a bit better quality. plenty of other good quality guest houses in the same area as TN though.

All Ways Phuket , Bkk , Samui , Pattaya, And Koh Chang..
So This Year It's Chian Mai ...

i been to chiang mai a couple of times........

i stayed down loh kroh road(actually soi 1,lower end hotels)but for location is great,right near my favourite' number 1 pub',nice and relaxed atmosphere,the girls are great.
and u will find the bigger majority of beer bars down loh kroh.coulldnt reccomend any hotels,but noticed quite a few down that neck of the woods.

i stayed at the porn ping a few years ago. but next time will be staying at a GH. many many good ones. i believe one i looked at was called lai thai. something like that. with a swimming pool as well. porn ping was convenient with the disco a few meters a way.

Be aware of the guesthouses in Chiang Mai.There are a lot of scams. worst of all Thailand.

Never leave your creditcard in the hotel safe, even when trekking for a few days. They will get it out, do some shopping, the....put it back before you arrive! You don't know about anything, don't fill in a complaint and you get the bill when you get home.

I was smart enough I thought, because I knew this trick, but they came at night in the room to robe me. D'ont know the name of this guesthouse, but it was not far from the old wall, next to the canal.

Now when I go back I am looking for a hotel with a view on the river, to watch the festivities.

i didnt spend much time downstairs although the lobby looked nice enough
they also set me up with a great Italian restauarnt that came and picked em up at the hotel and brought me to their restautrant

Lai Thai is very nice, far better than Top North and only approx 500mfurther fm Lo Kroh Road along the moat. Check out Lai Thai Guesthouse & Hotel, Chiang Mai, Thailand. Solid wood floors and very Thai inside, far nicer than concrete.

looks good ,may have to check it out next time,great location,price looks good and has swimming pool.......i stay in a hotel not far from there at all...Rux thai ,loh kroh 1....around 600 b....no pool......so laithai seems a good deal.

did not stay at the lai thai but looked at the rooms and talked to some of farangs there. was impressed and will stay there when i go to CM again. the staff was very polite when showing me around.

Lai Thai Guesthouse look very nice for the price and I will probably stay there next time I'm in CM.

Lai Thai IS good but it's a budget place and IMO the website makes it look nicer than it actually is.

I stayed at the Tamarind Village pretty much bang in the middle of Chaing Mai... a strange but comfortable little place and quite inexpensive. No room service to speak of but very attentive cleaning staff... The receptionist wasn't bad either. Just as well really because apart from the Porn Ping Tower the bars and so on all seemed rather lame compared to Patong.. But the temples and views were fabulous.

Hey Mac,

Tamarind village is a little more expensive to stay than Manathai Village (about 3000k baht per night) and I think the poster wants to keep it below or at 1000baht.

I booked here for 4 nights in July, saves me about 1000 baht a night since I originally booked at The Ramin Lodge... and they dont even have pool...
