I want to see who is on yahoo messenger but, it will not say available it is showing offline, please help me?

I'd like to see who's online without being online myself. I used to use this app: http://apps.facebook.com/invisible/ but it seems to have stopped working a couple of months ago. Are there any alternatives? Thank you!

I used to be able to chat on Yahoo, but now when I click on "available" it thinks about it and enters "offline". What has changed?

It's obvious that they don't want to talk to each other, but their producer forces them to chat as though they are close friends. It's all incredibly fake.
