I think numbers like this are probably based on boom time reports.
I don't think any of us really knows what the real numbers are but I suspect they are much lower.

Strangely, it also seems like there are more houses than ever. Maybe the vanishing of big houses has forced girls still stuck here for some reason to open their own shops. A small shop still has all the over head of a large house but can't be nearly as profitable. I guess the advertisers volume has actually increased.

I noticed in the past month or so it seems like 5-8 new places surfaced all at once. With that much competition I think you have to drop your price to keep it going or have a lot of cash from the boom days to hold on.

If I was going to guess, in a protracted recession many places will simply disappear.
If America makes a come back maybe they will too. As things equalize on the global economic stage maybe the KMP/AMP will become a memory. Who knows it might become so rare it actually becomes expensive.

My guess, the next big AMP markets are Australia, Europe (Fewer LE headaches), and China.

Through the years, I come to personally know a few providers and mamasans. Tastebud has hit it on the head in many ways. As to the providers (and frankly many of the owners), they have few choices. Most are undocumented and have few skills beyond this business that are beyond a minimum wage skill set. Then of course there are the language/cultural issues.

As to the women, most are here because of some drama back home. None of these women were electric engineers in Korea and then decided, hey I can make more money fucking guys in the U.S.

Most gals take some time off during their periods, but some will work (even using the puntag) not to loose money. However, popular places may charge the gals for food, supplies and incidentals. (Remember many gals live in these places for months at a time). Still, not a bad deal for most of these gals, but they often have family or personal issues -- everything from paying for immigration related stuff -- "green card husband," snake heads, etc.; to a substance or gambling habit. And by the way, the girls usually pay their own attorney's fees if there's a bust, not the owner.

The houses charging $160 will usually split 100/60 in the girl's favor or 80/80 even. Some more savvy owners prefer the apartment model as it's cheaper than a commercial space. One of the most expensive cost for the houses is advertising -- the blood line of these businesses.

Another significant cost is related to getting many of the gals. Take a look at the indictment arising from the August 2006 raid which is available from the U.S. Attorney's Office for NY's Southern District and you'll learn how much of this biz works.

I truly suspect that more quasi-underground places will start up over the next few years. They've been around for years and will likely continue. Many gals working at either the FS or HJ-style AMP can work for a few weeks at one of the established spas, give out a cell number to a few clients and then leave and get together with a few friends and start their own little apartment-based or outcall place. These places will perhaps be a little more flexible on the price of admission for repeat business. If the economy is still shaky for another year or two, prices will go down to $150 per hour, with a $100-120 hh rate.

Your point on the value of the Won is well taken, if I were to speculate the 850 Won will be back again this year. I also suspect that business has slipped dramatically compared with 2 years ago, probably more than the percentage increase in the value of the Won from that time, but I have no way of knowing this for sure. We must also remember that the ladies have expenses locally and any decline in income has not been matched in the decline in cost of living and doing business in New York City as most of us out here can confirm. It is just now that rents have begun to move toward a correction.

As for my monkey lord bedroom charm, to be honest, being funny and respectful is probably more important than being the swami of sex.
Of course big tippers are probably the most appreciated client, along with the regular, even better if they are minute men. You have to think that every once in a while the ladies need to get off too. A break in the routine is welcomed by everybody. That is where the monkey lord steps in!

well, i for one think spending on poontang is a leading indicator. the ultimate in discretionary spending. the first to feel hit in a downturn.

with respect to the price of won...are u a trader? cause your time horizon is too short. the move since feb may seem big. now compare today to 2 years back...like 850 won to the $. the feb-mar move is a blip. so my point was for girls sending money home 2 years ago, even with a rate reduction to $160 on the top line is more than made up for given some increase in vol and the currency translation with 1400 won / $

I think anyone who has made a decision based on any of my post can probably confirm my information was good. Any reports or reviews I have posted have always been based on actual experiences.

If your intention is to hurt me, that is truly a minor thing, but I think the result of your post probably hurts other people trying to make a living serving mongers. That is truly unfortunate since it is me you wish to discredit. Instead the result of your actions are probably to prevent someone from sending money home or making a living during tough times.

I am not against dropping prices. I just wanted to make sure that the claims matched the reality for the sake of unsuspecting mongers. For VC and Eden things look good so far.

Finally to lay to rest a rumor, I was never a partner or owner of an MP.
