What are some of your opinions and experience regarding AIDS and other sexual transmitted diseases in Thailand? I've read that the Thai government has been cracking down on the AIDS epidemic in the past but what is the situation now amongst the sex industry in Phuket and what kinds of prevention you take during intercourse? Are BG's require any sort of complusory physical examination every once in a while? Keep in mind that in 2001, 20% of commercial sex workers are HIV infected.

From the many locals i've spoken to in Phuket I think that there is a concerted effort to not publicize the issue of HIV in Phuket for obvious reasons such as tourism etc.

But I have to say that from the many stories I hear from local xpats and esp BG's who have been working in Phuket for a number of years.....the stories are really quite frightening in terms of the no's of girls who have HIV but keep on working regardless because its their only source of income and need to work for as long as posible to save up money for when they are too sick to work.

The one thing that struck me was that a nos of locals have said that the farang only sees the "good side" of the nightlife and never sees the bad side.....when the bar girls/ freelancers become too sick to work and go back to the family/village to slowly die. Its not a nice thought but it is the "other side" i'm sure most farangs never see

I have a friend who has got married with a BG one month ago. He took her to the hospital for some health tests and she is infected by some STD's (obviously not HIV). It is maybe not because her sex work as women can got some veneral infections easier than men and BG's usually dont like check-up probably because they are afraid to know the truth about their health and, as they are most of the time like children, they dont care so much. But she, and he, have to live with that forever.

I wonder sometimes how many BG's are infected with STD's (light or hard) and even dont know it. It is the hidden side of this world of fantasy.

As shown in those old Sex-Ed tapes: A guy usually knows soon afterward if he's been infected. Most cases lots of pain. However a woman can have the same venerial diseases festering deep inside them with little or no pain. Disease can be just as deadly/inconvenient/transmissable, though.

i think 99% of the girls have had a std of some kind in there "career".
also i should imagine a fair high perceneforum.xxxe of regular sex visitors to los have had some std of some kind,i no i have been unlucky on 2 occasions now.
but as they say,live by the sword die by the sword.you can only protect your self so far.there are stds out there that condoms dont protect against and some you can pass onto yourself just by touch,so you could pass it on after taking a condom off and holding your little fella whilst having a leek.be careful boys.

as domi said, sometimes the bg are like children. my last time, my TG was really sore and couldnt boom boom the last few days(im so big,yeah right!) and i told her we should go to the clinic and she wouldnt go. i told her what i thought it was and when we finally went it was what i thought, a yeast infection. my old farang gf use to get them. but i knew she didnt want to go because she thought it was something else

I strongly suspect that those of us who have been to LOS for multiple tours and slept with two dozen to 4 dozen BGs or more along the way, have most likely all had sex at least once with a girl who is HIV POSITIVE. Think about it the next time you are tempted to go bareback!!

i actually think it is different because people in europe and the US are more educated about the risk of AIDS. ive been to my fair share of massage parlors that offer full service and not once would a girl thik about lettign a guy go bareback. you've probably read the post where we were saying that these TG are sometimes like children, where they dont think about the future, and thats, along with the lack of education, is what is dangerous

We are educated but we still have the highest infection rates of STDs in years in Sweden, especially among younger people. Maybe working girls are more careful but it doesnt matter when people in general is less careful.

I think the most thai people know very well about AIDS. In nearly every village people are dying or died before from AIDS. And Thailand is one of the few countries in the world where the number of people having AIDS is decreasing.

Yes, i think so. I live near the border to Czechoslovakia. And of course there it is much worse than in thailand. More women are forced to "work" in this "job". Even go without condom. Horrible.

when i say uneducated, i mean the bar girls. ive read more on here about guys going bareback than in any conversations i ever had. i know that in the US people,at least most i know, are very cautious about using condoms. i just think with all of the aspects of a bar girls life, she is probably alot easier to convince to go bareback than a farang girl. just my opinion.

Maybe youre right. I think that a bg need to make money, so even they know about the risks, they do it bareback. A farang girl doesn`t have this pressure.

BTW my former girl friends here in europe didn`t take condoms.

I have never asked a BG to go bareback and only did it 3 times

First time, (16 days with the same BG) i was joking with her for a couple of days saying i wanted a thai-belgian baby and one night she said "but if you put condom, how you want make baby, you dont take, ok?" ... so I did and obviously once i was back home she told me she was pregnant (thanks some friend there, i have known soon it was just bullshit)

Second time, (6 days with her) she was a young 20y/o BG and went on me without asking anything, so I did

Third time, (1 week with her) I use a condom first time in bed in afternoon, then we went back to her bar for a lot of drinks. Bith of us were drunk and when we were back to the room, as I wanted to pt the rubber, she said "no, no, i dont like rubber, i want you f*ck me evrywhere", so I did
