15 body rub parlours and 2 adult entertainment lounges north of Toronto busted.

Thanks for answering the question Romeo. Now a list of affected MPs/MPAs would be helpful, if anyone has it. Wouldn't ya think the cops reading these boards would spring to respond?

From fact to opnion: The performers bust at WAGG would seem to present a clear free speech defence. I hope they don't just cave and plead.

Police said they also found adult entertainers making physical contact with patrons. At one club, Whiskey A Go-Go, two dancers allegedly performing oral sex on each other were charged with performing "an immoral theatrical performance."

Like Maxim says, it is an election year. Notice how close this latest "sweep" comes before Monday's election?

What I find interesting about these sweeps is that often charges are dropped or beaten in court. It will only be the few that cop a deal or were really objectionable that will get penalized. Not forgetting the legal fees that owners and the MPA's have to pay to fight the charge.

I wonder how IT made out last night? The articles specifically mention the Beaver Creek area of Richmond Hill. Paul - any comments? Or are you constrained from saying anything while it is before the courts?

Interesting link....

Most had unlincensed attendants... but even a couple of our favorites here got it for having the front door locked! And one well known for attendent being nude.

All these SEEM to be very minor bylaw violations. Looks like only about 3 at the strip clubs might be criminal.

Be sure all attendants are licensed seems reasonable. If everyone is busy and no receptionist I assume is why the front door was locked... seems more like common sense but still in violation of bylaw.

One charge as I recall at one of favorites for being nude... that of course is why some folks avoid certain cities that are so restrictive vs Mississauga where nude-reverse is specifically OK in the bylaw, with support of the women mayor and police.

Bad no more MP can run to Mississauga for favorable bylaws, since they are already at the maximum allowed MP licenses. That probably makes the existing MP licenses in Miss very valuable.

Fortunately these bylaw charges aren't criminal but still fines and potentially being closed is serious to the MP owner.

Too bad City Counsels of cities can't be convinced it is their best interest to have liberal bylaws like in Miss. If folks are offended by others freedoms to be nude and sensual, just don't go to a MP and stay with only RMT's.

But just as in the U.S. (where all is criminal not just licensing), the religious right folks, aren't satisfied letting people make up their own minds about these activities. Since they can't convince folks to follow their restrictive views, they seek to force folks by these bylaws. I assume that is the main problem with bylaws that are restrictive in Canada as in the U.S.

Is it just me or does reading those articles seem almost surreal ? They make MP's sounds so immoral and wrong, but it just comes across as ridiculous to me.

My point exactlly and this is a " free " society ?
After you reach the age of consent you should be able to consent to a mutual arrangement with a sp or mp worker without the laws interfering.
As far a writing your mp ( ironic mp , mpp ) unless hundreds wrote I'm sure my complaint would fall on deaf ears.

The specifics of what establishments were involved and for what reasons gives us more knowledge and awareness to work with in deciding whether to patronize massage parlours. This way you can see what places someone might feel best to avoid and also shows that many of the charges are rather petty - and should not discourage us from those places which continue to provide the highest quality service within the LEGAL LIMITS of law.
