Just be nice and friendly with the Bar owner - This way if she wants to mess with you she will screw herself with her boss - Sure as shit she will not smash a bottle over your head when you are having a beer with her Employer. If she does then at least you have more chance he will send you to the clinic.

Alternatively be as good spender at the bar and the ones running it will look after you if there is a showdown.

To compliment this buy her a drink and leave her a tip. :thumbsup:

Don't BF another BG from her bar the same night -Wait till at least one night without BF'ing anyone from her bar has passed (Make sure you visit her bar on the night you don't BF anyone so that she knows you are not hooked on her).

Once you have singled out the other BG you want to BF ask your new target if its OK 1st - If she says yes then ask her to ask the original BG if it is alright. Let them do the negotiations and sorting out of loss of face between them - They have done it before and understand it better then any of us dumb farang :cheers:

Also if you are really lucky you can try and time your trip to the bar a little later so that your original BF has been BF'd - Try sitting at a nearby bar to keep an eye out but don't let her see you are interested in her. If someone BF's her move in for the kill by asking where is she and the look dejected before BF'ing one of her friends.

I have also bf'd her and then also told her I want two girls - Thereby BF'ing her friend - Your target as well. Threes not a crowd in LOS :love:

If you want to take the more direct route just tell her you did'nt enjoy it with her and that you want to change for another girl - This has worked for me before and has not had any crazy reactions (Though I would recommend the long approach as I might have been lucky with the BG's I tried this on)

I would tell her on return to the bar that i had a great time with her but as said before am a butterfly and change lady because of this - not because she was no good.

I would also make it clear from the beggining i intend to come back to the bar another night to pick another girl so she knows where she stands.

What you say is true and the chances that the "cold and clinical" approach would result in violence is remote, although it has been known to happen. But why have bad feelings? What I really enjoy in LOS is understanding the ramifications of your actions which are not usually the same as in the UK. If you take a girl from the Bar and then go to her Bar and ignore her the next night with no explanation this simply creates bad feeling. Patong is a very small place and your behaviour will be noted and reported on everywhere to your own detriment. It seems perfectly acceptable to do as the BM's have said and buy your previous girl a drink, make a little fuss of her but say that you are onto pastures new. They do know the score really. It is your own "face" you lose when you behave badly - as one of the posts above suggests you should.

BG's can be very good friends and very helpful outside of their work. Don't play silly buggers with them and you will be made very welcome everywhere. As with everything the more you put in the more you take out.

I know you stated that you had never been to LOS so I will give you some advise.

1. Always be nice and cordial you will have a better vacation as people will feel more comfortable being around you and hence will treat you with more respect and better. If you act like a working class person with no manners you will be treated like that back - Thais are all about social status! and believe me farangs (non-asian foreigners) are not high on their scale. Farangs are kind of viewed like Jews in Germany before the Nazi take over, not liked but tolerated because of our access to cash. With that being said if you act normal you should be ok (of course "normal" is in the eye of the beholder).
2. There is no need to pay a girl a tip if you don't go with her. However, I think it would be rude if you lead her on and let her believe that you are taking her then to change you mind at the last minute. You might want to barfine both of them in this case which would provide you an interesting experience.
3. As for the money quoted, 1 Short Time trip with a lady in Pattaya is 500Bath and Long Time 1000Bath! I know that the girl go to Phuket because they can skin farang for higher fees but in short they are still hos and at the very bottom of the Thai social scale (although very pleasant hos). So tipping a ho 400 bath because you want to change your mind is just ridiculous. Just do the switch artfully as some other BMs described.
4. You are the customer, the bath is in your hand and you are in charge so don't take any shit.

i re-read my response and realize that i made an error. rather then edit it i just wanted to post a retraction. i messed up when i put "100-400 baht" tip for getting a bg to hook me up with a friend (after bg has already tried to "claim" her john for the night". i meant to put "100-200 baht". 400 baht is too close to a short time liason to just be a tip. but, i figure that a lady drink costs what, 100 or 150 baht? so, rather then buy her a drink and send her on her way, i figured that she'd probably enjoy the tip more. that's why i asked. i love hearing all the varied feedback. i suppose i'll know when i get there....which shouldn't be too far on the horizon.

one thing i have to ask:
everyone keeps saying 500ST and 100LT, yet so many articles that i read have guys saying that they paid more. my question(s):
1. do the girls that you pay 1000 baht ask outfront for that specific amount?
2.OR do you NEGOTIATE that amount before leaving the bar?
3.OR do you just end up giving them that amount the next morning as either a discreet transaction (the 1000baht note under the celphone, purse, etc..)or an "up to you" situation?

It goes into a detailed discussion of what BGs charge, how to bargain, whether you want to bargain or not, and various BM's approaches to bargaining or not bargaining with the girls, and why some BMs are happy to pay "over the mark," i.e., 2000 Baht or more. I think you will find all your questons are answered in that thread.

I think you are quite right about it might be a nice gesture to hand a BG a little tip for switching at the last moment and you are right a direct tip the gal gets all the money herself and at least she would get an award for spending time sitting with you. I know a guy from another board that actually sometimes give the girls some cash directly instead of buying lady drinks as they girls don't seem to like the drinks anyway and he claims that is a preferred gesture that works for him. However, there are a couple of funny things about how things work in Thailandto keep in mind. If you do it once you now will be expected to do it again and again and again.....so you might be setting a dangerous presidence for the rest of us. Uneducated Thai people seem to think that farang is always drowning in cash and that we are all rich and sometimes you feel like a walking ATM machine as it almost appears that the national past time is to fleeze the farang. Also, the girls are nice in the bars but they know what the deal is that is why they work bar in the first place so don't worry about hurting her feelings but DO worry about making your switch so that she does not come out of the situation looking bad = loss of face. Face is mue mue importante!!!!

500St/1000Lt are the standard prices and if you appear to know what you are talking about that is what you most of the time will pay. If you look like a sucker then of course the girl will try to get as much as she can from you. A couple of weeks ago I hooked up with this really attractive BG who works in Soi Eric (has short blond colored hair and kind of looks like Sharon Stone) and she was telling me that many Italian guys pay her 5000Bath for a night. This I thought was pretty funny as if that is what you want to pay why on earth travel all the way to LOS. I offered my standard fee and she seemed more than happy with it as she knew I would be coming back for more (which I of course did, damn sometimes I am such an easy read). Quite a skilled little marketing woman this gal....

One funny thing is that I have noticed in Bangkok these days if you offer a 1000 you often will hear Cheap Charlie and many girls will not go with you. Is it only me this happens to?

I think this is because BKK is more of a go-go scene, and because of this the girls are far less likely to go for 1000 baht as they are REGULARLY getting paid go-go prices of 2-3K LT. You might be able to get a go-go girl after everything closes for 1K if she is freelancing, but generally if she is used to getting 2-3K she will laugh when you offer 1K.

Same really applies to Phuket and Pattaya go-go girls. Not that i think they are worth this money, i mean are they so much better than beer bar girls? In some cases they seem to have over inflated opinions of themselves.

I think the 1K LT rule that most boardmembers here seem to adopt would be aimed at beer bar girls and freelancers, who accept and know this pricing as the standard. I doubt very much they would get a go go girl to leave her work during a shift. I mean what girl is going to go with you for 1000 baht when you have just paid her barfine of 600 baht.
