For the mathematically illiterateโฆโฆ..
Before the vaccine (100% unvaccinated / 0% vaccinated), 100% of hospitalization, patients in the ICU, and in ICU on a ventilator were 100% unvaccinated people
If we had 100% of the population vaccinated (0% unvaccinated/ 100% vaccinated) then hospitalizations, patients in the ICU, and in ICU on a ventilator numbers would be represented by 100% vaccinated people.
If the vaccine was not effective then hospitalization, patients in the ICU, and in ICU on a ventilator percentages would be a sliding scale and exactly equal to the vaccination percentage. We are at almost 90% vaccinated (eligible population) and 10% unvaccinated. Therefore, if the vaccine was ineffective, the unvaccinated would represent 10% of hospitalizations, 10% in ICU and 10% in ICU on ventilator. But, unvaccinated in the ICU is not around 10%, but instead they are close to 45%! For the less severe category of hospitalizations but not in ICU they represent almost 25%.
Sidenote: the health authorities are still digging deep into the data but preliminary results are beginning to indicated that many of the vaccinated in the hospitals and ICU also have underlying conditions. If true, and assuming the unvaccinated were otherwise โhealthyโ people (because those with underlying conditions are inclined to get vaccinated), then that is even a stronger case for the effectiveness of the vaccine since the population (based on health condition before contracting Covid) in those pie charts are apples and oranges. So, if you removed the underlying conditions patients to get a similar health comparison, the unvaccinated portion of the pie would grow even more.

while Jimmyd only shared a screenshot, here is the link with video. It reinforces this simple math and what all the non anti-vaxxers have been saying in this thread.
Numbers showing the majority of Alberta's COVID-19 hospital admissions are in vaccinated individuals don't tell the entire story, regardless of what some conspiracy theorists believe.
