Cops Not Patroling The SENTRI Drop Off

Monday morning, 2am, no cops at the stop where the taxi let me out. I have been stopped on previous trips at that place but the taxista said not to worry. There was a burrito waggon there and a few drunk people so I figured with my Spanish I was safe. The border crossing this time went well.

9pm last night. No cops at the Sentri drop off. A bit early I know, but still...you never know

Fireballs, Thanks for your update, you sure keep the rest of us out of potential trouble consistently ! I for one have never been stopped, perhaps I am just too intimidating to be stopped Good idea to not carry drugs or other illegal stuff and a polite but firm demeanour with the cops is the way to go, thats my opinion

So far after a few weeks since we heard about a few news reports claiming to stop the local TJ police from harassing American tourist at the sentri taxi drop off zone. It looks like it's still business as usual, as many reports are coming in from different sites about TJ cops still stopping people at random.

I would not worry too much about it, there are plenty of people like me that have never been stopped in that area, and if you are stopped, more then likely the cop will only ask you if you been drinking, or have drugs on you, just say no and you'll be on your way.

And even if your falling down drunk, you can get off paying a small bribe of maybe $20 to $40, as I would not pay more then that. Even if you actually get taken down to see the judge, I think the fine is something like $125. It's in a link I provided in one of these posts. Hopefully this week I'll see myself what's going on at the taxi drop off point.

It remains to be seeing if the TJ cops are obeying the mandate that told them to stay away from the sentry taxi drop off points. I'm not even sure if any such order was really given and this just isn't another rumor, although a few have reported seeing news reports on radio and newspapers that the order has indeed been given, so I'll have to take it at their word that these reports are true, but it's another thing to actually get something like this enforced.

We'll have to wait a few more weeks and watch the reports coming in, but when I was there last Thursday, it was business as usual for the TJ cops at the taxi drop off point, I even saw them questioning some gringos as I walked by.

It would be a good step if they can get the TJ cops to stop harassing the tourist and drunk mongers. However, I feel the business community in TJ is trying to scapegoat the TJ police for their own problems.

Revolution and Tijuana in general has been on a decline for a number of years as it's been the same for years now. Really there is nothing to do on Revolution unless you like buying prescription drugs to sneak back over the US border, or buying cheap fake jewelry, and Mexican blankets. The strip joints are nothing but rip off joints, where some places even try to fool you about the gender of the strippers by trying to pass off trannys as real women! The high-end strip joints offer you real women, but they over charge you for lap dances, and drinks for the girls, and the strippers don't even FUCK!

The young kids from the US rarely go to Tijuana anymore, as they favor l Rosarito Beach over Tijuana. The zona is still hopping in Tijuana, and that's because by and large the TJ hookers offer you a good deal at the bars that cater to the Americans sex tourist.

It's a start Vivamexspa, and the new Casino with the slot machines, but Tijuana, on REVO street has to do a lot more in order to compete for the tourist dollar instead of blaming the TJ cops for their own problems.

This is good news to hear. Usually when dropped off at the Lineia I have my highest sense of alert. Good to know the merchants have a say so in the "harrassment." of the Policia.

Currently the cops usually aren't present at the SENTRI drop off.

According to the local papers, TJ businessmen are blaiming the cops for the drop in tourism. They complained. So the powers that be are making the cops "back off."

These things go in cycles.
