Covered by health plan @ Studio 7

The ad in the Toronto Sun for Studio 7 reads " Covered by most health plans ". So I called them and someone told me that they will give you a receipt for the massage. Does anyone know if this receipt is legitimate for company health plan claims??
My understanding is that, in order to put through an insurance claim for massage, it has to be an official receipt with an RMT registration #. Does Studio 7 provide this?? If so, then they are the answer to all my problems.

If you don't value your job, or insurance go ahead and try it. If you do value your job or health insurance, leave that alone. You are asking for trouble billing insurance plans for MP visits. I know some places claim you can do it but Insurance companies aren't stupid and even more importantly they don't like to give you money unless they absolutely have to. They see a claim that looks the slightest big fishy and they will investigate, find out what really goes on and then you are toast.

Also...........most insurance companies require you to submit a referral from your GP with your first receipt and the referral usually has to name the suggested RMT.

My current plan, and I believe most others, requires a receipt with the RMT's registration number on it. So, unless the MPA is a real RMT, you claim will bounce. There is a place I go to when visiting Ottawa that actually has an RMT so you can claim for their "services" My plan does not require a referral from a GP but some do so check your plan info first.

Jun Jun on College is offical RMT place as they do have RMT staff and will offer reciept. Ask ahead of time. As already posted, make sure you check if your health plan requires GP referral first. I know mine does.

I can add to verify what swoosh says. I went to a Community College that offers a Massage Therapy Program. My insurance company does not require a MD referral. The fee was modest @ $15.00 but I thought I'd submit it as a claim anyway as I also was submitting some chiropractic bills. It was a no-go.

The reason for their refusal to honour the claim was that while the massage was supervised by an RMT (the instrucror) it was not given by a registered RMT. The massage must be "given" by the RMT. Could that be a problem then with a place like JunJun where you would not use the RMT? Just a thought.

I've even had real RMT receipts rejected by my insurance co because I did not have a doctor refferal notice with it.

It's not worth the risk and the receipt is basically tossed in the blue box.

My wife and I used to get RMT massages covered on her policy, but all were with legit RMTs. I've never heard of the doctor's letter thing. We were always fully reimbursed. I considered it for stress rather than injury. The biz card of the Red Bean also says "covered by most health plans"...but I wouldn't bother to try.

Licencing agencies look askance at places that offer both. That's not to say they won't get a licence, however. There were some public messages about "bogus" places that masquerade as legit parlours.

If say...somebody got busted for insurance fraud/submitting false claims etc., I wonder whom it would be? Client? "Massuese'?

Personally seems crazy to want to claim a visit to a MP through a health plan. If the $100-$150 is too much for a guy to afford, stay home with a bottle of Jergens!

On a similar topic: I haven't been to an RMT since before starting this hobby. I'm feeling tense & stressed lately (above what can be cured at an MP ) but am afraid of having a "reaction" during it, and expecting "the big finish"!

I had a somewhat embarrasing experience at an RMT. It has happened more than once actually.

I visit this RMT in Buffalo whom I see at least one a month if not every other week while on business south of the border. I get a two (2) hour therapeutic session for US$100.00. Fits nicely in my schedule after the 1 and 1/2 to sometimes 2 and 1/2 hour drive down there and all my affairs have been taken care of. She's a licenced professional and does absolutely no hanky panky at all. She does trigger point, swedish, shiatsu, and Thai massage.

My first sessions were excellent. As I became a regular and we became more familiar (through conversation), it came to the point where she was sure I was coming just for the massage and not looking for "extras." The sessions I get now are best sessions I've ever experienced without "the main event."

I guess knowing she can use her hands "here and there" without worrying about whether I'm covered with the towel or not; and knowing I'm not gonna proposition her or feel her up account for the quality and level of service.

When I filled out the forms [legitimate RMT's do this] I didn't check any of the boxes designating any "areas" where I did not want to be massaged. She's got great hands (and looks do-able I might add), and a few times when she has done my lower adomen and/or my inner thighs, a "completely involuntary reaction" by "Mr. Happy" has occurred that has always got her attention.

Like I said, I've been a regular of hers for a while and so she doesn't feel uncomfortable when "this" happens but I do, somewhat. She's really nice and handles the situation well: "Oh, what have we here?" she says. "Don't worry about it... it's completely normal and nothing to worry about. Just ignore it." Nice words for a "prickly" situation.

They don't say that over at EBC.

I'm sure its common and they are used to it. A buddy of mine got hard when being massaged by an 70 year old Thai woman in Bangkok (legit massage).

Still not sure how I would deal with it! Serious embarassment.

This has also happened to me a few times with my regular RMT. All she said the first time was "its perfectly normal and a sign that you are relaxed...don't worry about it".

Never say never, but it's so rare that you might as well say never.

An RMT has invested both time and money in getting the RMT designation. Pulling a stunt like this would get them in more hot water than it's likely to be worth.

Gee how many affairs have you got going?

I know a few people who've studied massage and I guarantee that they all know a thing or 2 about erotic massage (and it gets much better than most rub and tugs no doubt about it). You'd really be a bonehead to ask them I think. I've had some say interesting things. I think even the girl mentioning it (erection) is kind of cool.

I don't have a lot of experience with RMTs but did see one about twice a month for about a year. Good looking woman in her late 30s, who was very professional, but gave a great soothing massage and had a pleasant personality.
Usually she kept a towel over the strategic spot, but one session she came in and just whipped the towel off my butt (yet I was always instructed before to shower, towel off, lie face down covered by a towel). I wasn't embarrassed, since I've been to so many MPs, but felt a little turned on, because this was different from the norm plus her hands were getting a lot closer to the family jewels than before.
Even when she flipped me, she didn't immediately put a towel over the one-eyed monster who was semi-rigid at this point. Yet she made a comment like "ooh, someone's a little excited today" then covered willie up. And in a very casual tone mentioned to me that there was a "recreational massage parlour" at the other end of the plaza that might help me with that one area where I was stiff.
Got to admit, for a while there she had me wondering that maybe I might be getting a treat that day.
