Damn the bylaws and early close times

Found myself downtown tonight and got the itch for a massage.

WAsn't in for a cheap basic massage with no showers a la Jun Jun.

Wasn't in the mood to over pay at Toronto Health Spa.

Plush, Bliss and Platinum were closed already.

Ended up taking the scenic route home with a detour to SRM to see Renee (as good as always but I've already posted a review).

Anyways, the point is just wondering..... what is the rationale for making spas close early (i.e. 11 or earlier)? I mean would it be sooooo bad that they stayed open later?

We get the governments we deserve. Often, they deceive us during election time. Often? No, all the time. Too bad we have anally retentive dufusses in office everywhere. Sorry, I forgot to turn off my rant mode.

Not sure of the actual reason, but I have my own thoughts on the subject.

They want to do a cleaning of the industry. Later hours brings more drunks and more attention to the places.The longer hours make them stand out in the publics eye. The shorter hours creates an impression of uniformity and acceptance of the industry. They kind of blend in with existing business. This is a good thing in my mind, the first step in public acceptance. Most of us know that the public as already accepted this industry, otherwise there would not be 700 plus places in the city in business. Someone is going there. The city just hasn't got the concept yet, but will in time.

I also think that if the city could get rid of the body rub places legally, they would do it in a heart beat, but that ground has been covered, and they simply can't do it legally. So their approach now is to try and destroy them economically, by cutting back their hours of business and raising their rates to enormous levels. A one - two punch approach. Time will tell how it will work out for them.

Frankcastle what we all have to start to realize is that we are under a dictatorship government in a small degree of some sort.

Okay i agree that closing early cuts down on the drunk factor which helps out the ladies so I'm for that I suppose.

There is "ONE" reason for the early closing and "ONE" reason only- A toronto strip club owner who likes to blame spa's for his decrease in business (it couldn't be cover charges in the day and night, or vip cover charges per entry) This strip club owner took almost his whole staff to a city council meeting, the staff was allowed to speak and cry the blues about how business is sooooooo bad and the main reason is because of the "massage parlours". This OWNER said and did alot of things including going on the radio, getting newpapers to do week long articles (you remember those) it was all an elaborate plan to try and close massage parlours, he spent alot of money for this very reason... the 9pm closing will be reversed, (he originally asked for them to be closed at 5pm) its in court now. I could go on.... but you get the picture

To paraphrase, never underestimate the power of lobbyism. Hopefully, the courts will see reason more clearly and justice will prevail.
