The ancient Greeks were very tolerant of homosexuality, but they would have thought the idea of gay marriage absurd because it did not fit in with the natural order. It's because we have divorced the idea of natural law from marriage that we have come to accept gay marriage. Yesterday, Costa Rica became the first country in Central America to legalize same sex marriage. This is the single most offensive disgrace to the human race. Getting married is supposed to be a holy and sacred act. These gay people have forced the human race to change the meaning of marriage to the point where it is no longer holy and sacred. It is plain selfish and disrespectful.

Marriage is a holy and sacred act. What would be selfish and disrespectful would be to deny people their right to love who they want and who they choose as their life partner. Please understand there are some things you can’t personally understand but have to respect. And I’m sure you’d never turn down a free duo with me and one of my girl friends at work...

The ideas of the Greeks with regard to the natural law were incorporated into Christianity because they were quite logical, so their influence extends to our own time. Every culture before ours saw marriage as defined by the union between a man and a woman. All ancient cultures used slavery because they had no machines, and that was the only way they could get things done.

Personally I can't say I find Christianity quite as logical as you do. Probably better to let Christians abide by it if they choose, rather than forcing it on everyone...

What makes you think Christian women were uneducated? Even in the middle ages, many women were educated, far more than in non-Christian cultures. Our society got its values from Christianity, rather than Islam or anything else.

Absolutely! We can disagree without being disagreeable. I usually assume people, though different, are reasonable until they prove otherwise.
