Fantasea show and dinner

Hi guys,

Did the RTFF thing and not much on this place here.

Does it live up to all the hype??? and the food is it any good?

I know Denver is going to rave about this place because it is situated in Kamala :sarcastic:

but I have a TGF from my last trip and we will be spending a couple of days together...should I bring her there, do we eat there or somewhere else before....and where do I buy tickets? at the door or through an agency?

Any feedback on this place will be appreciated

I've been to Fantasea a couple of times.

I always had the hotel reception call and make booking for the show. Then, picked up tickets at Fantasea, in my name.

If you'd like, they have a minivan pickup service in Patong, for an additional charge. I didn't care for the dinner package, however.

The outdoor "park" is something the girls really like. Arcade type games, etc...

I usually tried to steer to the outdoor bar, before the show.

Enjoyed the "show", equally well on both occasions.

Would recommend seeing the Phuket Fantasea show as a tourist at least once - kids (& TG's) >6 will love it (below that age its a bit noisy/scary for them).

Been a couple of times, last time was with girlfriend, was more enjoyable for me to firstly see how much fun she got from all the outside games and stalls etc and then was better for me watching the show, she explained what was going on and what part of Thailand, certain dances or cotumes were from.

Reckon she will like it, you will think its okay but not as good as a top show or entertainment venue, you have previously been to.

Definitely go for the show and the outside area. I would skip the food - its a bit like the feeding of the 5,000 - having said that, others have told me the food was really good. There are some food stalls in the fair area, if your peckish.
If it's within your budget upgrade to VIP seats, I think its worth it.
You won't be allowed to take your camera inside the theatre, but they do provide secure storage for them.

Au Contraire Mon Ami Champs! That establishment has it's good and bad points as far as I am concerned!

I have not been for a while, but I am guessing the format and the main show is the same, they do add and subtract bits here and there (I think the aerial trapeze act is new) Well worth a visit IMHO. It seems to do good business, going off the number of minibuses and coaches I see leaving after the show while sat in some bar in Kamalalala. Take a Tilak if you can.

Bad point for me is the fireworks, If the wind is in the wrong direction during the shows finale then I get a broadside over my bloody balcony, which also acts as a reminder that if I am under red, green and yellow sparkly attack that I have probably fallen asleep and should be getting ready to go out!

Good Point: The complex is big and offers employment to lots and lots of girlies! Either in the show, cleaning up after the messy farang or serving the food etc. After the show they smooch into Kamalalala as everyone is thrown back in thier carriages and transported back over the 'hill of doom' to thier snug hotels in Patong. Good!

The only way to say if it is good or not is to buy a ticket, pop along, soak it up, take it for what it is. Then let us know!

Good selection of farang food and plenty to keep the TG happy too.

Been to Fantasea a few times (twice) really enjoyed the show and recomend that you go to see it at least once in your travels to LOS.
The park IMO was not that great, more shops to purchase souveniers etc.

Found the food Ok, as far as 1000+ seat buffets go big selection of Thai, Japanese and Western food, but all in all a good night out.
Bought tickets through hoetl, so transportation to and from was organised.

If I remember correctly that foodhall does hold 5,000?
There was heaps of food.
I've only been once & that was when I was there with work so they organised payment & transport etc. I enjoyed the show, I didn't know that the workmate that I sat behind was scared of elephants until he attempted to do a runner. h:

Have been twice, took my parents and g/f the 1st time they all enjoyed the show and the buffet. Booked through hotel both times 1500 baht each for everything, don´t know the price now.

Bought tickets through agency in Patong - went by minibus. The show was very good but the dinner was nothing special. I would give that a miss next time. Cameras not allowed inside but worth taking for outdoor "park".

I have been three times, the last two was with friends that had never been before. We did the meal package, as their is two sittings. Either see the show first, then eat. Or eat first, then see the show. Either way, everybody is arriving and leaving at the same time, unless you have arranged your own transport. It is cheap enough to have them pick you up with mini bus, and return you back to hotel, or drop off near bangala Rd.

The selection of food was good and plentiful, it's all you can eat buffett.

If you were to pick your seats, I would suggest the VIP section or if you can any of the first three rows in the back section. The parade passes thru the middle and you can see whats happening on seforum.xxxe and what is passing thru the middle, without having to keep turning your back to view it all. Also you gett a better view of the performance that drops from the roof.

Sorry, I don't want to give too much away, but it's an enjoyable evening.

Well it would appear that the concensus of opinion is that it is worth going to. They do make an effort there and if you are out here for a couple of weeks then go and see it.

You'll still have time for Bangla when you get back from the dreaded Kamalalalala, give us a wave on your way out! 555555555

i fell asleep 5 minutes into the show and my gf woke me up because i was snoring 5555555

oh and i embarassed her because i argued with the guys throwing the baby tigers around for pictures

she hasnt asked to go back in the 3 years since 55555

They are big Tigers now and we let them loose in Kamalala at night for added security.

I would love to visit it in July with my summer teelak and would also like a "tour" of Kamalalala at night as rumours say it is a good resting place for the elderly.... :bigboulay:

I will agree with Denver (cough!!!! yeah I said it. I agree with Denver your going to make something out of it ...cough!!!!)

It seems that this is a must see show if you have not seen it before and if you are with a TGF (both the case for me)

I can then announce ( I know nobody cares but I'll say it anyway) that I will be going to see the show, buying VIP tickets with the food included.

Just need to figure out the date and all. I'll figure it out once I am on site with a couple of beers in me from MTB.
