Last year i saw a lot of mid 30's plus singles in Phuket and the only reason they weren't more evident was because a lot of the singles were now in groups due to friendships forged from previous visits.
To say someone on their, own especially from the USA, is a sexual predator is an opinion formed without thought.
Yes a lot of the tourists are older, having to come to Phuket to get their fun but what is wrong with that.
At that age you are probably fixed with your life, prefering your own company and having disposable income (until you fall in love with a TG to complicate life) Their friends are all married and any 40+ woman at home is nothing like what you can get in Thailand.
So while you look at the guy next to you and think "weirdo" what is the guy sitting across the bar thinking of you?

Put it this way- if most were at home this would be classed as sexual assault and should be reported. No girl, be she a bar girl or other should be considered 'fair game' just walking down the street. These neandethal types who are now appearing in Thailand should get their just desserts,as they would in the US, UK or Oz. Pattaya Mail often has reports of girls being groped by drunks and its out of order. If someone says every thai girl walking down Walking Street or Bangla is ' up for it' and deserves it, why is every white woman ( not that I would want to grope one) left alone by the falangs. No one should be afraid to walk down the street without being attacked. Think how much it pisses you off after a couple of days in the beer sois when you go for a piss and are grabbed by everyone on the way down. if you are on holiday OK its amusing but after a while it wears thin. I agree actually with JayBee to a point, Europeans do tend to be here in large numbers, pissing it up and generally being very laddish, particularly when in groups. High spirits that often cross the boundaries of what is respectable behaviour.

However the opposite stereotype is an interesting one. That loan sexual predator, the one who isn't here for the beer, kind of a loner, purely out to satisfy his wierd sexual preferences/fantasies. Not sure what goes on in some of their heads, sort of like sitting at a bar with a guy and then seeing his pic in the paper next day (kinda like Jeffrey Dahmer). There are way too many of them in Thailand and funnily enough a large number of them seem to be from the North American continent. I mean you look at these sorts of forums the number of Americans seems to be disproportionate to the number that actually travel here. Constantly on the hunt for a bit of action they are unable to engineer themselves but if they can find the name of a girl with a wierd kink, the job is done.

As for the OP, do something about it. It is unacceptable and until someone makes a stand it will continue. It is your chance to be a pioneer. I can assure you if it happened to my wife, the bloke would be in clink with no mercy spared in just a few short minutes.
