And do not put all of your cash in your wallet. Some mongers actual carry a decoy wallet with a few dollars, a couple of old junk cards and expired ID in it (which becomes the target of the pickpocket or thief) and keep the cash and DL in a moneybelt. Extreme, but effective.

P.S. For saftey reasons always carry your money in different pockets. A stashed $20 in your pocket can help you get out of a jam! My best safety tip is always carry enough $$ to get out of a jam. Take a friend if you can. If not just go to Hong Kong & Adelitas. You'll have a great time!

dougiefresh is right! Do not make any friends there especially with the locals. Take taxi's to & from the border. It not just cheap it's 100% safer than walking. I do walk there but only in the lighter hours of the afternoon. At night a taxi ride is cheap. The best place to go is Adelitas. Chicago has lost it in my opinion. The Hong Kong is a great place to relax & catch some strip shows. But Adelitas is the best place! $40 is the average but I have actually had chicas tell me no for $40. $50 is always accpeted. They will always ask for $60. Negotiate before you go upstairs. Buy her a drink or 2 if you want to hang out & just check out the atmoshpere. The girls make $3 per drink if you buy them a drink or 2 they are much more relaxed to hang out a bit. Especially if you have already negotiated $$.

The most interesting thing about this advice is the people you should least trust speak fluent English. There are a ton of parolees at large from the US,deportees and guys who know they'll be in trouble if they go back to the US. Then you get your random junkie or loser gringo/gringa. Don't buy their stories, don't even talk to them. These are professional grifters.

I'm back and wow. Downtown TJ is by far the most seediest place I have ever been to in my life. The streets are lined with pimps and prostitutes. People try to overcharge you on everything because you are a tourist. Some outright try to right you off. A cabbie asked me for double the fare afterwards even though we agreed on a price to get me there. This is definately a town where one has to keep their wits. I stayed away from hard liquor the whole trip. The trip would have probably been better in I didn't always have to keep looking over my shoulders. This is definately a place to hit up in a group.

Now the girls...oh the girls...imagine just walking into a club and picking. Like a kid in a candy store. But better.

Service is hit or miss. Some girls are like dead fishes in bed. But there are girls who are fantastic as well. This one girl I was with had was awesome, she kept bucking her hips and doing pelvic thrusts. I think she was having more fun than me!

i was in a club and some guy pulled that 20 dollar - one dollar move but I didnt take shit i told my friends and i told hte waitor to step out side cus imma fuck him up now so he came out side with a few local mexican guys we were about to fuck them up one of the guys threw a punch at my friend but missed and the polica came and arrested us between us we only had like $15 left we gave it to the police they dropped us off at the border wasnt that bad

I've been going to Tijuana alone several times a week for years; I've actually had fewer problems in TJ than I have in SD. (For example, on the US side of the border I've had my car stolen, which is something that hasn't happened to me in Mexico.) In Tijuana a little common sense goes a long ways towards avoiding problems.

My experience is only a very small perceneforum.xxxe of tourists get arrested while in Tijuana. IMHO a person has to "work at" to get arrested in TJ. "Working at it" means doing things like urinating in public, drunk and disorderly conduct, carrying drugs or weapons, fightening, etc.

You will be okay alone in TJ. Just watch your back. Trust no one you just met. Never flash money. If alone, do not get drunk. do not wander the streets after dark, just into the bars and SG alley and into a cab. Dress very safe, jeans and a simple, dark shirt. No nice jewelry! Do not talk to anyone on the street and stay closer to the curb when walking, but again, don't walk whenever possible, take a cab. Trust your instincts. If it doesn't feel right, it isn't right.

If you want to go with me and my friend we are young and fun college students but we have no $$ just pay for our beers adn we will show you around trust me we've seen it all .... we even have gotten arrested for getting in a fight with some ppl it is not as bad as people say it is we always walk from avenue de revolution to zona norte (adelitas/chicago) fucking pay taxi cab best tacos and avenue de revolution has alot of americans if you dont mess with the police they dont mess with you

I am always going to T.J. alone for many years too.
I always park the car at our border side then walk over . Take a cab to
Adelitas for 4 bucks only. Sometimes, I get on the bus to Revolucion ave.
and it is only 2 buck ticket . Never feel total safe 100 % in a strange city.
Even in L.A. everthing can happen , just beware and walk with caution on the
street of T.J.

Jabberwockt I have always went alone. To be totally honest, I do not feel 100 percent safe as I know there is a danger element. People do get mugged. When I am alone, I am constantly looking around and if someone seems to be watching me, I make eye contact with him and keep moving.

On your first time I would advise taking a cab to Adelitas and back to the border if it is at night. If you choose to walk around in the day time, I would walk in the street or on the sidewalk near the street keeping a brisk pace and always be aware of your surroundings. Also, avoid alleys don't dress flashy and keep most of your money someplace besides your wallet or pockets.
