When on a budget I buy a small bottle of water and nurse the hell out of it. I discretely put it in my pocket and take it with me back and forth between AB and HK. When it runs empty it still looks full and I can always make it look full again with water from the restroom sinks but not drink it of course.

Well, this guy is not the usual monger.
He's a worldclass monger that has been to almost every place you can imagine (thru the years I have met him many times here in Monterrey).
He does spend some money at the HK and maybe the waiters will go all out to get some G at a convenience store outside HK.

Anyway like you, I stick to Diet Coke and agua mineral and nurse it like hell, but it's very hard to keep a drink intact here where temperatures can remain on the 100 degrees mark at night.
Ice just melts like if it never existed cause soft drinks are not kept cold like beer.

Ha ha, I love it, Gatorade? I didn't even know that they had it at HK. My usual beverage is either Coca Cola Light or Agua Mineral....

It is true... you can make the waiters ignore you. Play dead. Fly below the waiter's radar.
I don't drink either, but I can order soft drinks or club soda at the SC clubs. Some how the waiters tend to dismiss you, don't pay attention at all, if they see you just drinking diet coke or "agua mineral".

There is another member on another forum that orders Gatorade at the HK.
Yes, Gatorade. That kinda takes care of the waiters for a long time.

The trick to Hong Kong if you don't want to be bothered with the pushy waiters is to simply purchase 1 drink and NURSE it for ever! Just take a sip of it and then don't drink it unless you are dying of thirst. Otherwise, ask for a glass of ice and don't drink it PERIOD. Leave the straw in and NURSE that bad boy. This is the method I use b/c I don't drink alcohol in TJ at all b/c I am usually the designated driver and I don't like to get drunk in TJ.

Yes the burgeoning days of 05 are gone and I'm damn glad of it. Hope they NEVER come back. The slower times have made it fantastic for those of us that frequent TJ. There are still PLENTY of chicas and anyone can find whatever it is they want.

business isn't what it used to be.... you can tell by standing outside the AB on Friday night a 10pm... normally, you get 5 girls going upstairs in a minute, now you get one every 2 minutes....

TJ Bar owners are using "Field of Dreams" method.... we build it and they will come..... I hope it works out for them.... TJ, like the rest of US economy may never go back to their peaks.... the good o'days of 05 are gone forever....

WTF??? What planet are you from? La Zona has already survived the worst of it, and they will continue to survive. PERIOD! And they are aggressively expanding. HK opened Malquierda, they bought the Rio Rosas corner, and they are taking over the La Botana and opening the Miami Club.

Tropical is in the process of doubling it's size and AB is remodeling to add an expanded VIP section. The New York bar just remodeled and re-oened. And Delicia just remodeled last year.

The Zona has already adjusted to the USA recession. The ONLY thing that will slow them up will be if the USA has a double dip recession. And IMO it will hit us within a year. I'm prepared for it, so if it doesn't happen, great. But somehow just printing billions and billions of unending dollars to pay China and to pay for our oil just might come to an end one day? (doh, ya think)

Oh yeah I forgot? QE3 will be implemented to save the day. (what a fkn joke)

Just pointing out that HK only went modern recently, opposed as the rest of the SCs in Mexico did ages ago.
TJ's Zona needs a lot to pick up if it want to survive....

HKs business model is a proven outstanding success. And it will continue that way until another bar makes a run at them with the same business model. And that's just not gonna happen. I'm in there every weekend and I don't see any problems, unless you don't know how to handle aggressive maseros. And I have zero problems with them.

HK has bought the Rio Rosas property and the Botana bar as well. so they are expanding very aggressively.

HK has become the AB and Chicago Club of 5 years ago.... I haven't been to Chicago in 5 years because they asked me to leave once when I didn't want to order a beer and have already drank 4 beers.... HK is slowly approaching that way.... that is sad.... it used to be a relax atmosphere bar where you can hang out for hours and not get bothers.... not anymore....

Alos readers, do you guys remember Penuts and Beer on Revolution? It used to be a great bar with modelistic chicas.... I went there again last month and found it to be a run down dump.... things go south once they start charging cover and force customers to buy beer....

Sadly, I don't have a favorite bar anymore!.

I have to recant my previous impression of this club. I visited here on a Tuesday night and the guys out front wanted $4 to come in around 7 p.m., which I thought was odd. I paid the cover and found the club overcrowded with customers. The dancers were not attractive at all and they were sitting around waiting for someone to buy them drinks. I saw one dancer heading upstairs on the 15 min I was there. The waiters are way TOO aggressive....the same guy repeatedly ask if you want a drink and they get in your face asking what you need. I guess I got lucky last time with a nice chick, but this time this place totally sucked.

The Brizuela's own the Las Chavelas group. Not sure what other types of business they are in, but for sure the police have felt that they harbored cartel fugitives in Cascadas hotel before.

Gerry (English spelling) Jiminez owns Adelitas and La Valentina and there is a rumor that he bought Mexico Lindo Bar (currently closed)
He has business interest in Las Vegas and I am sure other things, but don't know what.

When you guys talk about groups owning these bars, who are these groups? I assume mafia or crime related types? Or are they like a stock company? Imagine a IPO for Hong Kong. That would be awesome, who wouldn't want to own a piece of a whore house? The stock value would never drop unless if every whore you employed had AIDS or if women ruled the world.

When HK expanded they took the West section of Las Chavelas out all the way to the Coahuila. Until then the Alley was the only entrance. Both remodeling projects turned out to be a smart move.

Tropical only remodeled slightly but they still are the best place to shop for FOBS.
