I use jojoba oil all the time on my clients. I enjoy the fact that it's a non nut oil, it's the closest oil to your own natural skin oil, it has an indefinite shelf life, there are no preservatives in it and it feels great going on. I used Biotone gel, cream and oil in school and now I cannot tolerate any biotone at all. It makes my throat tickle and I start coughing so I think I've developed a sensitivity to it.

Jojoba is good but not enough for massage.Not enough glide. I am chainging to another product because I don't want to have chemicals in my hands or my clients. But try to mix your own that way you know what is in there. You can scent them the way you want. I have also done a Fractionated coconut and jojoba and vegetable. The vegetable gives me the glide, the fco doesn't stain the sheets and the jojoba is a good treatment for the skin. And it's all mine. no chemicals added.

Jojoba is actually a plant wax, not a plant oil.  It doesn't go rancid like an oil.  As mentioned previously, it is about the closest thing you can get to the waxy part in the skin's own sebum, meaning it is very easily absorbed.  It's a great treatment for pregnant clients - I usually sell a big bottle of it for home care to any new pregnant client after they'd had one or 2 massages - they can tell the difference. Of those that have gone though their 16oz bottle during their pregnancy, the comments have been about how it's helped the stretch marks before they became pregnant and how they didn't get any more....Clients don't get that oily feeling afterwards, you don't have to wipe them down to remove excess oil because it isn't there.I use average using about 25ml for a full body massage, that's one tenth of a cup, a bit more than 3/4 fld oz.The best thing I find is that it just washes out with ordinary detergent - I think this is because it is so close to sebum, ordinary clothes detergent washes that out and so it gets the jojoba out easily.  I haven't had to do any prewash soaking/spraying with it.  Occasionally if I get a very hairy guy I will use almond oil with the jojoba, but that doesn't wash out as easily. You don't get that cooking smell if you haven't washed it out properly and put it in the clothes dryer.  Even if I don't wash it for a couple of days, it still all comes out in the wash

I have always used coconut oil. Right now I like to use a combination of co oil & lotion, but THAT creates a little bit of laundry day gymnastics (pre-treating, etc). I've always been interested in jojoba oil, but balked at the cost.Does it have any odor at all?Do those of you who love it think its easy to launder?Is it something that needs to be 'melted' or is it happy in liquid form? My coconut oil solidifies in temps under about 70 degrees.Thanks.Jill/Sagetherapist

my coconut is solid also. I melt it and put it in with the jojoba. Jojoba is a golden yellow. If you get it, do the Boston Jojoba. Best price for a gallon. If you want to try some. email me. I'll send you some. I have a gallon.

jojoba goes solid in the refrigerator, but is liquid at room temp - definitely liquid at a temp where a client would contemplate disrobing It's got a very slight odour, but it is very hard to notice it.  Compared to most vegetable oils I'd say it's got no smell. It is fantastic with aromatherapy oils, and it works very well with hot rocks.Jill, does coconut oil come out in the wash easily? Is it including the lotion that causes you to have the laundry gymnastics? No lotion coconut oil would come out easily?I tried some of the Pure Fiji products over the weekend, they're mainly coconut oil and do solidify at room temp.  I'm about to do an laundry experiment with them.  Their products smell amazing, and I can understand why some ritzy spas use them as the retail product would walk out the door.  I'm just not sure about repeat purchases - the products are so rich, it would make it an effort to use them at home, you can't just put them on and walk out the door, it is put them on, wait for them to sink in, wipe off excess, still feel a bit over oiled. It looks like they use a synthetic fragrance but everything else is natural.

I never used to have laundry issues when I used plain coconut oil, and they're really not major now. I do, though, now have to do alot of steps to get the linens as clean as I want them. That's why I ask about the jojoba wax.What "kind" of smell does it have? Earthy? Not bad, I hope.Jill/Sagetherapist

jojoba is an oil, I know they call  it a wax but it sure don't sound right as jojoba wax. Sounds like something that takes forever to get out.  It is realyl good.  The bottle says: Use HobaCare a drop at a time, until you are fully famiiliar with how little you really need. Less is best. To condition skin, scalp,hair and cuticles, massage HojobaCAr in. Use HobaCare as a base for essential oils, to polish nails, to remove make up and to massage face, body, feet, scalp and hands.  For more infor on Jojob, go to http://www.bostonjojoba.com

Coconut oil does not smell like coconut. You need the virgin coconut oili to get the smell and even that is very light. Not enough to be aromatic.

The reason I know about oils is... I make soap and use them all.

I use Spectrum coconut oil for hair, skin & nails. It does not smell like anything, and is pretty easy to launder out. Its not the one you use for cooking. That does smell, especially after warming it to liquify.

Cheryl, thanks for all the info on the Hobacare. I'll check it out, although there are some places that sell it around here. I think I'll buy from them for the first small quantity & then do the shipping costs, etc if I fall in love with it.

I always use Jojoba for LaStone therapy and also often for Swedish  massage unless my client prefers a cream or lotion.  The jojoba is a great base for customizing aromas with essential oils for each client, depending on their preferences and sensitivities.  If they are prone towards allergies, I use without the essential oils.  I find when I use the right amount it is not too "oily", it is just right.  I find that by adding approx. 1/4 cup of "Dawn" dishsoap in with my laundry detergent when washing linens, I have no residue from any product that I use, whether it be jojoba, or other massage creams/lotions/oils.  My two cents.
