The same things happened to me. I paid upfront just for a massage. I was curious to see what will happen after.
The massage was average. She is good in talk. I didn't go with any extras, it's overpriced.

Agreed. Unless someone has intentions of theft, what is the big deal to pay upfront? I almost forgot once and so did the lady. I got to my car and actually went back in. She also had no idea and was surprised to see me walk back in. Since then I always pay upfront. If there is more involved, we can do that later but at least the main part is done. I'd also rather have it out of the way too. Doing it assbackward is like eating dessert first and then having the (insert veggie you hate here) last. I find, too, that if the lady is relaxed knowing she is not going to get robbed, it makes for a better session.

My time in this massage racket is a young three years, but I have yet to be asked to pay upfront.
I have also never been asked to pay up front at a restaurant either. (Fast food aside)
And to play devils advocate, I would think that the service might fade if the payment was ahead of time. What’s to say the provider doesn’t short you time? They already have the full payment. You’ve ultimately lost any bargaining chip.

Yes, you pay upfront for gas as it”s a commodity. A massage is a service similar to a restaurant.
