One question, off topic, does anyone know how long the wait is usually on a Friday around 5-6pm if crossing by foot? Planning a trip and was thinking of taking that bus that leaves Revolucion and takes you to the border crossing. Also, is that a good option coming into TJ? Does it reduce the risk of getting frisked by the TJ cops?

Yes they currently have a 4 hour $18 promotion. It is run by women, so you don't have the guys calling the room harassing the chica, like they often do at La Mansion. We have really been using La Premier a lot more for that reason.

It is always best to have two ID's in this case...if the law stops you and you don't have an ID that is a 36 hour hold or about $36 or 360 pesos...at the local jail the conversion is 10 to 1.

Had a couple trips down since my original post, I would also recommend the hotel "Premier" it is across the freeway there and has reasonable prices, personal garages and several good porno 24/7 running channels just like La Mansion. I was also told by my driver that the staff is much cooler/easy going at Premier than they are at La Mansion! Happy hunting!

The hotel does charge their taxis for making the call...I believe it is $7 and you are going to get that from either hotel. La Premier has the same policy about leave the room...lose the room. Sometimes they will let you come in and out if you leave your license with the reception.

I agree they are worth 14 pesos, but that makes them among the most expensive with 5, 6, and 10 pesos available all over the city.

La Cantina de los Remedios Restaurante, Applebees, and the Plaza Rio with several restaurants are all within walking distance of La Mansion. I once lived a couple blocks away. Los Troncos is very close and good and they probably have the most expensive tacos in TJ...just past Lucerna on the walk. If you are in the mood for burgers, you can turn left on Paseo de Los Heroes and walk to Beverly Burgers.

LaMansion - I tried going here once, and as soon as I drove up I was told there were no going in and outs. So I didn't stay here and just went up to Premier. I love premier, food is good, beer is reasonable, service is good, but I call my own cabs. I haven't tried the girl service here, but I'm sure they have it, I think I've seen it on their menu.


**MrOpportunity - All hotels do this, specially the drive in hotels/motels. If they call for you, they must give the receptionist $10 pesos for calling, then they add that to your cab fare.

If you're a regular in TJ, find yourself a regular cab driver. I have a couple, sometimes I take them out to eat as they will drive me around all day and end up charging you a very low day price. When I need them, we communicate by text messages. I have metroPCS, and I've had sprint; both I was able to text to/from TJ.

Staying at La Mansion you would need a taxi to go just about anywhere, at 14 pesos for these tacos, they are worth it. Nothing in the states compares to these. You can make 2 tacos out of one of these tacos and really 2 is all you would need. Plus you get fresh guacamole, salsa the works. Better than eating at those taco carts in La Zona. Went here a couple of times to re-energize before going back to La Zona.

Oh, btw, for those who have been to LM, do you usually get robbed by the taxi back to the border? When I get them to call a taxi for me, i sometimes see the driver giving the receptionist pesos, guess its kickback. Then its a highway robbery $10 fee for me at the dropoff. Guess that's the one drawbacks of LM, other than its not in the ZN. Its gotten me to the point of considering driving in myself since the parking seems safe.

I've been to LM a few times now although I usually have an amiga scheduled ahead of time to meet me there. Its a waay better experience than cascadas if you don't need to browse a large selection. Hate the dusty dirty floors at cascadas. A couple of times the receptionist offered to send me chicas. I'll say sure, send em over, even though I already had an appointment, just to see the lineup. And each time there was one hottie and 2 or 3 fuglies.

It is on 5th Street and Ninoes Heroes....which would be about an hour or so to walk from La Mansion. I eat there all the time....I believe they are some of the most expensive at 14 pesos each.
