Visited Patong during the week of Oct 18/06. I was new to the area and unfortunately didn't make it to MTB. This oversight will definitively be corrected when I return in May (hopefully).I noticed that some ladies being less popular than others might find making their monthly commitments (rent, phone, etc) difficult. So the question: . Does the girl received a minimum wage for working at a bar or does it wages totally consist of commission from LD and activities resulting after being bar fined? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

There was a time in my life, when if I had been offered a typical BG's room, I would have grabbed it, and thought that I was living in the lap of luxury. In those days, I looked at the guys who were sleeping in their cars, and thought, "Wow! That guy has got it made!"

It was the worst of times. It was the best of times. We do whatever we must to survive. Somehow I managed without resorting to prostitution. I was offered it, and the money was good, but never considered it.

But I don't look down on the BGs for doing what they do. I only had myself to think about. And I don't expect others to be as stubborn or proud as me. Altho, I can tell you, I certainly had a few lessons in humility in those days.

After experiencing many of the BG's and how many carry themselves I've come to the conclusion that many Bg's are very giving and most try and show yo a good time. many live in conditions becuase they have to save money while others just spend and spend.

During the day times, all the little things I wanted (water, fruit, etc.) she would get for me and pay for as well. Even one afternoon, she paid for the motor bike taxi back to CSB, because I didn't have change anymore. When I then wanted to return the money to her, she even got almost angry with me. It was her way of showing care and appreciation, I guess.

Of course, I made sure she was taken care of properly later on.

Depends from bar to bar. Some girls are on a salary( long time staff and cashiers usually). The others take a share on the ladydrinks and what they can make on barfines and the generosity of their evenings company.

In most bars they get a minimum wage before comission from LD's and barfines but apart from the topp gogo dancers its generally not a lot.

I know one Kebsapian massage lady who cleared 1,000,000baht in a year....some donated by me. She would usually make 3 or 4000 a day in the shop (sometimes more) and then get a guy in the Tiger afyter midnight. She peaked at having 5 sponsors on the go at the same time.

When I was in Phuket I always stayed with a girl that I met in Samui.She invited me to visit her in Patong.I stayed there regulary at my visits, when I came I just put some money in a drawer of her cupboard.We seperated for other reasons than "BG"-reasons.Just found out that we didn´t match together.
Her room was at Nanai road in an appartement complex.Even a farang lived there.Some ladies shared rooms together, some were living together with their Thai husbands and regular workers were living there, too.
Her appartement was really nice and clean.After the entrance there was the living room with a sofa,TV and DVD-player.She had sideboards,a locker and a coffeetable as furniture, even a carpet there.Then there was a second room, the bedroom with a king size bed, a wardrobe and a dressing table.It´s not been high-class and also a bit old, but I´ve seen a lot worse in Asia.Down the lea there was the tiled bathroom with shower,basin and "farang" (not French) toilet.Next to the bath there was the Kitchen with a fridge and the cooking burner.All in all very nice for 3700 Baht/month including electricity.

My wife stayed in a small room with toilet and basin for 2800 Baht/month with electricity.She just moved in there when I met her.Didnt stay long there by the way either:love2:

2 different types of bars to be considered, agogo and bar beer.

In agogo's all staff are on salary. In bar beers not all staff are on salaries, mainly only cashier, bartender and maybe a few others, but not all. They rely on LD commissions and BF's.

HI all,

Am new here and just joined the forum. Cool thread. I have just returned from a month in Thailand, boy what a fab time. Been there before, but this trip was a rollercoaster of a fun time.

Believe me, being back in the cold, damp and windy winter conditions of the UK is not where I wish to be.

I met up with a really cute young lady when I was in Patong, had to go north for a week for a friends wedding in Chiang Mai but when I got back to Patong, I caught up with my lady once more and spent the remaining ten days with her.

Like many of you have said, she too lives in a single roomed complex of Nanai road with two other girls from her bar. They pay 3000 baht a month between them and again it is very clean and tidy, considering. Cooking facilities is outside, but adequate for their needs.

All 3 of them work at the same bar but only my young lady effectively is a BG, the other two being the cashier and the accountant for the bar. Mine earnt a daily wage of 300 baht with added commissions from LDs and obviously whatever she earns from customers, which I would hazard would be quite a lot, as she is a very beautiful and fun oving girl.

I know over the two to three weeks that I was with her, she was very well looked after and from what she told me during the high season, she can earn around 25,000 a month.

Must admit, although the sexual side of life is a little daunting I'm sure, for them, the closeness and friendship between these girls is second to none and they all look after one another, just wish I was still there.

Planning to get back around April or May and maybe start looking for a bar to buy myself.

Some get paid for dancing depends on the agreement with the bar owner.

They can get by on very little if they have to, living in cheap accomodation sometimes 3 or more to a room, they stick together to help each other out when they can.

I would say that there is more common in Tiger to pay dancers/girls than in any other soi, most bars dont pay anything at all except for the ladydrinks and the barfines.

Gogo bars is a different matter thought, as Stevem pointed out.

Would suggest you do quite a bit of reading on buying a bar they aren't the gold mine you might think. You will need another form of income as well.

I must say that it makes me feel very sorry for some of these bar girls who have to work in beer bars.

Having no certainty of income everytime they go to work and with most if not all bar owners refusing to pay a small minimum salary for the girls must put a fair degree of stress on them.

I mean if they are working as a BG then there must be a money problem so having no guaranteed income - even a very small one- must make them worry alot.

Its a hard world for many and I think for us tourists well for me at least.........I think it would be horrible if the tables were turned and I had to endure the "working conditions" that these BG's endure.

Always treat these girls nice they deserve at least that

If I understand Viper well, her basic salary is 300 Baht and in addition her commission on ladydrinks etc.
