I was in a bar on Bangla last night talking to a girl who moved there from Karon.

There were quite a few people walking up and down, true, but she pointed out they were mainly Koreans and Japanese, 'only interested in photos'.

So it proved. The only drink buyers in the bar were long term expats, so no bells were rung.

This bar, like a few others on Bangla, I think? had the 'Ring Bell for 1000 baht, everyone gets a shot' deal.

But since the girls didn't make any money from the shot, there wasn't the interest bell ringing can arouse elsewhere.

Actually after the 1st trip with my 3 other friends, 4 of us, we stayed at an apartment in Patong. We had kitchen facilities and comfort of a 2 bedroom duplex apartment. We actually planned to cook to save money, drink beer bought from supermarket in the comfort of the apartment. We do not mind doing that as we are tight on budget and rather only go out on weekend (thinking that Bangla only gets busy on weekends) As long it's a holiday, get away from Kuala Lumpur, good company with the mates together watching TV/DVDs, i think it's still a nice holiday.

Do not have to go out all the time, just relax, the atmosphere is not the same.

We still do that when we go to places like Australia, get an apartment and chill out.

We feel more relax and spend less, but end of the day get to go out during the day to see, but once get back, just stay in.

Hey guys I fly in to Phuket this Fri around 9pm and would really appreciate some advice. Would it be best to get a taxi to Phuket or Patong? Am keen to drops my bags off grab a shower a head into a bar and have a couple cold beers and check out some sexy Thai girls. Can anyone recommend a 4 Star type hotel and what bars to head to? Ferg, In your case get taxi to Patong 500-600THB.
How much is your budget per night for hotel (i.e. do you need on beach? get one that is GF, if you want to bring a friend back, or they will slug you a lot extra when you do). Just get one night at first if you are not sure, look around next day, plenty of choice. First have a look at the Summer Breeze hotel on Soi Sansabai (Girl friendly and near the action). Bill is a friendly knowledgable guy.
What time are you getting in? Make sure you get to Mai Thai bar on Soi Eric after ten PM is best and see Nicke, he will sort you out. And have a good holiday.

Have heard it from some of the girls also, and personally i don't like the way some seem to be treated.

One of the girls i spoke to about it, seemed quite shock that i knew they had to pay mamasan if they didn't return home etc.
When i BF'd first girl from Exotica mamasan tried to take all the money off of me, told her i'd just pay bar fine and give the girl her own money in the morning, she kept trying to take all the money from me, wasn't going to happen

I am going with a mate so either need a two room suite or two single rooms as keen for a bit a privacy. Budget around 2500 baht per room per night. Yep keen to visit Mai Thai Bar.
