Hello.. Sorry for the long post.
I am an old user (previously *freejack*, but I forgot the credentials)
I was in UAE, came back to India for good in January.

Sex racketeers go smart

Sex racketeers of Rachakonda are no more local operators. From the days when they were mere players on the street, to operating from posh residential localities, they have now gone online, and more importantly, become inter-State operators.

While deals are now settled via classified websites like Locanto.com, they have spread their wings to attract more clients by bringing in women from different parts of the country.

According to the Rachakonda police, sex rackets that were recently busted here had women from Mumbai, Delhi and even as far away as from Kolkata. The Rachakonda Special Operations Team has, in the last three months, busted about 30 sex rackets, of which one third were being run online and which had about 30 women from other States being rescued from the grip of the operators.

The operators, police said, got in touch with potential customers through the classified websites, exchanged details of the women available, sometimes over WhatsApp, and then struck deals. The clients would be taken in cabs and accommodated in hotels and apartments in posh localities, with the operator remaining just a voice over the phone.

Organised System

The women, including models and small-time actresses, were sometimes brought to the city by flight and train, based on the rates they drew from the clients. Many women from economically weak backgrounds were also being trapped by the operators.

“We noticed women from poor families, widows, divorcees and so on, mostly from Kolkata, becoming victims. In most cases they are brought to the city in the guise of giving them a job and are paid an advance of around Rs.25,000,” said G. Naveen Kumar, Inspector SOT, Rachakonda.

Many victims were also small-time junior artistes from television serials and movies who were forced to switch to this trade due to lack of opportunities and meagre incomes.

With operators joining hands with counterparts in Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi, the trade has become an organised crime, prompting the police to intensify its crackdown on trafficking, officials said, adding that Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat had issued orders to this effect.

“We are watching the movements of organisers here and in other States. Their Call Data Records (CDR) are being tracked. We have also started to keep a check on online ads and resorts to curb flesh trade,” Naveen Kumar said.
