Actually, I understand this. Here in Germany most of the people I know are through work. They go out every Friday and Saturday. And there are loads of them that go out. However, I don't have much in common with them so why go out for the sake of it?

To be honest my weekends are usually quiet. I don't go out that much, but when I do it's bloody expensive. Also working stacks of hours, i enjoy sleeping Saturday and Sunday.

I don't feel I'm shutting myself off. I've evolved. I've been going out a lot longer than you(see age). There are not many people my age doing what I do anymore. I'm bored with being the oldest guy in the clubs. But in LOS I have a common demographic.

As far as prostitutes go It doesn't feel as sleazy as that. These are beautiful women. and some of them I am quite fond off. I won't argue with happiness.

it really makes the difference. i am on IJ side here, I don't go out that much for the same reasons jonny provided. where I live there are 5,5 k ppl, there is nothing to do. it has become impossible to go out of the village, and have a few drinks somewhere else, such as Taormina or Catania. not that easy when you know that you have to drink and drive. all the friends are married and so on.

being in NY is different anyway, then your right in saying that it is un-acceptable to give in ones life at home. at my door step there's nothing to have fun with. as I said b4 I have to move, but then again I have to come back too. easy to think hard to do.

It's people making choices, do i do the same as i've done for the previous x years? getting drunk all weekend (now the hangovers last 3 days) now it's not a fight...they try to kill you!
I loved my holiday, the weather, the girls, the whole experience. I've been to Karon twice years ago as i needed peace and quiet but never suffered the LOS blues like i did on leaving Patong.
I'm happy where i am in life..i've been well off and i've been at the lowest, now i am in a job i like, not the greatest money so i have to cut back my boozing so i can afford my holiday.
Not a baffling decision marc26 but one that makes sense for me.

l worked out some time ago that my LOS trips worked out ton average to be approx 15% of the year......so if l never did anything back home....that would be 85% of my life just for work and stayin in.....not 4 me.

IJ, you are getting out once a week for golf and some banter with your mates....so your not exactly being the ultimate hermit.

The one's l can't understand are the 20 & 30 somethings who say their social life at home is finished because of discovering LOS....that's just plain daft IMO
