From reading different threads from yourself, D man and Dodge, KBG doesn't even get mentioned anymore when in conversation about Kamala related bars. Has it really faded away that much now???

I always knew Aussie bar would do well when the current owner bought off the paradise pool guy (forgot name) he's well known in the village already with another business but more importantly he's always interactive with his customers new or regulars and thats where unfortunately Rudy has let himself down.

I think i'd be right in saying that the clear out, of long time serving and popular BG's finally killed the place off back in November 2010 approx. I remember him trying to sell it about a year ago for around 12 million, can't be worth half that now as he's lost what was a successful business model and the locals that went with it.....

The 'Sunset' option that Loop mentions works well in that location as well because thereafter there are no bars further down the south end of the beach.
It is also open early afternoons.
A friend, Pete, does very well out of his bar there.
There is also a sort of 'voyeur' opportunity for straight punters to look on to a full-on girlie bar ( the one at the back wall...is that Dolphin Bar Lew?) without , 'partaking'.
I agree that this model is the only one with a more certain hope of a future with the current demographic .

The new bar complex in Soi Sansabai, The Zoo, is now shut down. Noticed it today but may have been for a few days already.

Back wall is Ott from Kanagaroos 'beach view' or something view bar.

Tho I thought despite it having many many staff it was like the roo.. Staff only off after hours. Dolphin is the road side beach side IIRC.

They are just building a new beer bar complex down here in sleepy Rawai about 20 bars in total.The place is like a ghost town at the moment.So feck knows where the punters are going to come from.

Do you mean financially or that it would have a negative environmental impact. Like smaller resorts and villages would be come just another red light district?



Is this the different ethnic groups that are coming to Phuket as opposed to American/European, Causcasians in general I suppose and or the rising cost of Phuket. It's also one less flight for a lot of people.

Pretty soon he'll be just another bar owner failure, spending most of his year working offshore to maintain his LOS habit whilst constantly attempting to remind everyone of how grand he used to be....

Got to agree with this. They have got the right formula mix to appeal to the newer tourists as well as the old school ones. One small girlie bar at the south of Kata closing isn't going to stop these guys who appear well backed and have seen a few years in and out.

The only drawback is cute girls wont wear uniforms and do menial work, OR show up for 10 hour shifts.

Yeh well I heard that bar was built by 'the boss' or landowner.
Apparently he was getting 40k a month from the Tailor shop or something that used to be there but still tore it down to make his bar.
A few KBG girls arrived there last year.
