I have been downloading a few samples of massage software. I have looked at Massage Office verion 2.2, Massage Manager, and one more that the name escapes me. I like pieces of each, but over all seem to like Massage Manager the best. Please...someone tell the future student (starting Sept. 13th) what SOAP means???!!! Also, had anyone worked with any of these or different ones and what do you think? Thanks

That is the other one! It was the best priced one. I need to work with all three again until I figure it out. Massage Office has the cool SOAP drawing option of color codeing the areas of the body, but the rest is pretty basic stuff; Massage Manager has better options for keeping track of your vendors and invoices and reports and I like the menu off to the right where I can see all my options. The only thing I didn't like about Customer Pro-File is I had to go back to the main menu to change screens. Do you get an instruction booklet with it?

For 911gal,SOAP (subjective/objective/assessment/plan)The purpose of SOAP charting is to record the clients condition and progress that occurs in each session of bodywork/massage.Subjective: The client's subjective complaints and symptoms that are in the clients own words or may have been discussed by the referring physician.Objective: These are the observations of the practitioner and what techniques were used during the treatment session. Assessment: As most bodyworkers or massage therapists are not allowed to diagnose conditions, this is to report the immediate results of the session.Plan: Suggest a treatment frequency, issues that need to be addressed in the future, other therapies that may benefit the client and perhaps (if qualified to do so) dietry and exercise plans.I see no need to expand these descriptions further as you'll pick all that up during your training.I hope this answers your question.Be wellPS: Is 911gal motor vehicle or building related?

RedTed, Thanks for the SOAP info. I'm sure my head will be swimming with lots of information soon.911 is happily motor vechicle related! I have a 1970 911T that my husband an I are restoring. Actually this weekend we are stripping parts off of it to get it ready to go to the paint stripper next week, then a pretty band new paint job back to it's original color of Signal Orange! Fun stuff!

By using these programs you may find , as we do in the UK, you have to register with an official body to comply with the Data Protection Act. That is assuming you have something similar in the US.Just something to bear in mind when storing client data electronically.Be well.

Hi Mende, thanks for that very useful LInk. I have been researching software also and it is very expensive. I have found I like Massage Manager but they get you in that, when you work for 2 different places, you have to purchase the multiple therapist program. To me, this should not be an option. The multiple therapists should be there as every one does not work alone, in there own practice or whatever they were thinking, making it for one person.  The program, shuts down if you make some kind of error, say what you were trying to do does not make sense, well the program says, error wrong argument and shuts down. What kind of software ever does this? I never saw such a thing.  So, I emailed the one you mentioned to see if it has the option of working in two different places and obtaining different commisions. Since you have it, could you tell me if it does this or not?

what do you mean *teach massage* classes? Are you a teacher looking for some software to TEACH anatamy?  We learned from a book and watched some videos. Those that are advertised in the Massage Magazine. If they have software to teach massage, ewweeeeewww.

if your a teacher, why do you need software?  If you are a teacher, then when you learned how to teach, they did not show you Teacher software?  Our teachers taught from books. Guess that's also Old Fashion and soon to be outdated

I have to agree the Primal 3D Interactive Series is definitely the way to go.  I have the whole series and use it to explain to my clients what is happening with their body and what I am going to do.  I like the way you can go through the different layers of muscle and show them what muscle is on top and how they are layered in relation to each other.  I also like the fact that you can rotate the picture at any level to show the muscle for other angles.  Plus if you click on the picture it will tell you what muscle it is, it function, attachments, show video of it in motion.   I have to admit  I LOVE THIS PROGRAM!!!!  I tell everyone about it.  I know several Dr.'s who have bought it and put it in their office to show their patients.  Two thumbs up...BigDog

Dorling Kindersley have some great software of this type, not sure if you get this publisher in the States but their stuff is usually available from Amazon.I have the  Advanced Biology program by them and it helped me a lot. Also, I cannot recommend their books enough, Grays is fine but a bit dry and Tortura maybe more in depth than you need for some of the exams. DK books sit well with any of the required texts you will be given.Be well.
