I totally agree that the Chargers made out better. It just seems to be rather prevalent with the attitude when a college ball player comes to the NFL and says who he will or won't play for. I still can't stand the little prick and hope he gets the shit kicked out of him Sunday.

And as it turned out the deal they made with the Giants really worked out for SD. They got Rivers (who I think is better than Manning anyway), Merriman (one of the top defensive players in the NFL) and Kaeding who made the Pro Bowl two years ago but was shaky this year. If I'm the Chargers I would still take that trade any day of the week!

While on the subject, here is my observations about TV ads by NFL personnel. Peyton Manning is darn good in the commercials. he seems like an idiot in the games (yelling and calling out stuff) of course he is extremely good player ! There are several very funny ones of his, like the latest one is about Pep Talk. With a straight face he says "If you are not below 23 or an NFL player forget about all the rock hard abs, just go and buy a bigger shirt !

LT is passable with his southern like drawl in the LCD TV add.

One of the best is Dennis Green the former coach of Arizona Cardinals ? "They are who we thought they were...."

I have this NFL sunday ticket, damn after the Chica addiction, this is another addiction i have. Like Big Tuna might say "This is a good one to have "

Well I agree that I would 10 to 1 rather be in San Diego than New Yawk. Had Eli came out and been an outstanding player fromt he get go it would have merited a different response from the NFL fans but the way he has played (with the exception of the last month) has not earned him very much. The old Eli " pick off" Manning hasn't disappeared. One can only wonder when we will see him again?

Hahaha, well thanks and as far as the Ravens go, it wasn't all that hot shot at all. I do work in sports and deal with athletes a lot but generally not football players. I was in D.C. for work and went to Baltimore to meet with some people I know at the paper there. By coincidence, I stopped into Ray's (which is about as fancy as Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles) and he was there doing his radio show with Clayton and Bart Scott. I didn't know them from work (don't cover football), I just shot the shit with them.

If you live in a city, athletes are around, when I lived in Philly before I even started working in the business I'd see a lot of guys around at Capital Grille, the Mitchell & Ness store, etc. Funniest cats I've ever run into for work or otherwise are Rasheed Wallace and Martin Straka; Straka has some awesome stories from the old country.

Agree with your thoughts on the Chargers although I have to credit them for picking that kid outta Florida State. If his knee were in perfect shape he'd have been a top 5 pick but they got a steal on him and he is finally giving their secondary some life after it sucked for years.

First of all he doesn't undermine anything. He is actually doing San Diego a favor by letting them know he will not sign. Now they can get value in a trade or take another player and before the draft. If San Diego makes a bonehead pick, they could lose value as eveyone knows they must trade. In this case a top pick QB probably wouldn't lose value unless only one team was intersted.

You just cannot expect every player to play wherever he is drafted. He is a human being and can decide he wants to teach school, donate time to charity, join the pro poker tour, or wait until the next year and go free agent or back in the draft.

Remember he is taking a chance that no one else would want him as well. Of course that is unlikely that the guy slotted first wouldn't be wanted by someone else. He can sit out a year if he likes, or the Chargers can make a deal.

The draft is kind of a gray issue to me. Yes a draftee who decides he doesn't want to play for a particular team (ex. Manning with the Chargers) undermines the draft but at the same time its a free country and people should have the right to choose what they want to do. Plus its only the guy who is at the very top of the draft who has any real leverage. In any event, 99.9 % of draftees in any year go willingly to the team that drafts them and don't try to make a power play.

I was down on Eli for a while after what he pulled in the '04 Draft but to be honest he's won me over recently. I'm not a Giants fan but living here in North Jersey the Giants are the big team and always in the media. From what I see of Eli he really seems like a good, genuine kid who has his head on right. I am a fan now.

(That being said IMHO I always thought he was crazy for not picking San Diego. Its fucking 30 degrees here now lol I would have gone there in a heartbeat, plus its so close to TJ LOLOL!)

If that is the way it is, it totally undermines the purpose of the draft. the teams with the poor records get the higher draft picks to help rebuild their team. If the draftees have the option of playing where they want why even have a draft?

Why should he play where he is drafted? You don't think he has the right to say "no thanks"? Maybe his career would be better in San Diego, but certainly he can make his own decisions where to work or what offers to accept or decline.

I totally agree. Everybody hates them because they are so good. Any sports team that excels will always bring out the haters. I have never been a Pats fan but after hearing all of the idiotic speculation I hope they blow away everybody that they face. Like them or not but if they play thier best game nobody will beat them.

You have a point but, the Colts sucked when Peyton went there. I think a young kid out of college needs to go where he is drafted and then prove he is more than someone who played good in college. San Diego anticipated getting Eli so much and then he pulled his hold out to go on and throw un chinga de intercepciones. He has played good lately but how long will this go on? Had he not been the brother of Peyton he probably would have been in the third or fourth round.

On a serious note, the Chargers are surging, but I wouldnt put them to make the SB run, Rivers is too inconsistent and Defense is not all that great, but they should do well in next few games.
And Mr Wilt ! did you say you met the Ravens players in the Ray Lewis restaurant ! That seems a bit far fetched but possible ?. YOu mightbe hot shot guy for all I know. You have a very good knowledg of NFL football. Thanks

Actually I think they would tie Miami if they go undefeated during the regular season, as Miami will not be the only team for the regular season undefeated. Your right about completely undefeated, I hope they get beat in the playoffs or the sueforum.xxxowl.

I hope New England goes undefeated just to break the record and get rid of this Miami curse....Everyone on that team has way too big of and ego and needs to be shown the reality that records are made to be broken. I think if New England played the undefeated Miami today, Miami would be blown out like 44-7. I think New England has a lot going for them. They play well every week, and when it is crunch time they nut it up and win. 3 teams have had excellent chances this year and let them off the hook. They very well may get beat...chances are game 16 could matter to the NYG's but obviously not at all to New England. I am thinking they will not be sueforum.xxxowl champions...but maybe I am hoping.
