Pamper evening

Hi

I have been asked if I will do Reflexology at a Pamper Evening. Can anyone please tell me how Ican just do about 20-30 mins taster instead of the usual 50 mins. I feel I need all this time to apply the best treatment. Would I just still do the whole treatment but speed it up a bit?

I know how you feel, it's strange being asked to do a shorter treatment but it's fine once you get your head round it. I usually ask the client if they have any particular problems they would like worked on and then do a short warm up routine, work the big toe, spine and solar plexus for relaxation and then concentrate on any areas they have mentioned. Finish with a foot massage with some nice smelling cream. You then have the opportunity to explain what you have done, if you still have timeand possibly suggest how a full treatment would benefit then. Never know, you might get a booking.

Most people feel a lot of benefit, even from a short taster session, so dont feel you are not giving a good treatment just because it's not the normal length.

I have a similar situation when doing "taster" sessions at Mind Body Spirit type shows where you generally do 30 minute slots.

Can only echo what Jackie has said. Allowing five minutes to get the client into the chair or onto the couch do a brief check on any specific problems or medical conditions they have and do a relaxing massage only leaves you just over 20 minutes for the reflexology treatment itself.
I managed to find a willing friend to practice on so I could get my treatment time down to 25 minutes while covering all that was required and leaving the "client" feeling good. Having someone to practice the abbreviated treatment on gave me much more confidence when faced with "real" clients, as the last thing you want to be doing is worrying how to fit the treatment in when you are actually doing it.

It will be a great opportunity for you and a good experience.

I went to a pamper evening, and had never experienced reflexology before. The session was for 15mins. I arrived with a sinus trouble, tension from running around after my kids, lower back ache from previous problems and a blindig headache. I had already pre-booked my treatment so did not want to miss out.

The reflexologist said she could only do a short general treatment but did I have any issues. I said I only had arrived with a headache, forgetting about the other annoying symptoms and gradually various tender spots were felt, when I asked what they were connected to, she said sinus, lower back pain and the solar plexus which would be because of rushing and stress.

Not only did I become so relaxed I could have easily fallen asleep (even though I was in an infant school classroom and there were other treatments going on), I left completely relaxed and without my headache. Two days later I realised that my sinus problem had disappeared too.

I would recommend anyone to try reflexology, just to be so relaxed was fantastic. As I said my treatment was for only 15 mins, so I sure you will give benefit to whoever you treat.

On the subject of pamper evenings/ladies nights can anyone help me. I have considered doing this and starting amongst my friends, but find it difficult to ask my friends not to drink wine on the evening. Also what concerns me is, how could I create the right environment when there are a number of women wanting to chat? Would I need to give treatments in a seperate room? Any help on these issues would be greatly appreciated.

I always advise people at these events to be careful with alcohol but usually most people seem to keep to fruit juices because of driving etc. If somebody is drinking do a ligher treatment or foot massage and check they feel alright when they get up after the treatment.

All the parties I have done have been with me in a bedroom or separate room somewhere because as you say the other ladies chatting and laughing would be a distraction. I usually take my cd player along for some relaxing music and some nice smelling candles to create the right atmosphere and it seems to work okay.

Good idea to start with friends. I am sure it will go well. Remember to give them all a few leaflets to pass on and I am sure you will get more bookings from it.

Momentum has picked with this issue now. I have considered party host to offer voucher with treatment details advising guests/clients in order to benefit completely from massage alcohol should be avoided. I will also ask them to tick which treatment they would prefer and to return to host with a deposit. Currently working for myself from a rented room I have had clients cancel at the last minute and some just not showing up at all. If I am taking my services out to somebody elses place, I would want to make sure It is worth my while.
The friends that have been interested and want to host parties can offer a seperate room to carry out the treatments.

I too have been asked to do something on similar lines but am not sure how to go about it - can you give me any tips?

I am a Personal Trainer and Aromatherapist. I visit people in their home and have been asked to do a papmer evening for one of my female clients and her 2, 3, or 4 friends. I work on my own and intend to do something like a back massage (or something of equivalent time) which should last about 20 minutes. I thought I might ask a local beauty therapist to come along and do nails, pedicure and/or facials. What worries me most is the timings - I am male and have never done a pamper evening before, nore have i ever been to a spa for treatments.

The lady has a large house with sauna, steam room and hot tub all in the same area. She also has plenty of spare rooms fo me to do the massage and for the beautician to do her thing. However, never having done this before I am worried about the other lady (or ladies) becoming bored while their friends are having a treatment. Is this a realistic fear or am I being paranoid?

If anyone can give me some advice I will be happy to take it on board.

Hi all,

I am attending a ladies night tomorrow night, where I will be offering Reflexology or Back massages. I have only ever done 10 minute back massages at these events before, and charged £5. However, this time i have been asked to do Reflexology too. I think, after reading the advice here, I can cut the treatment down ok, but I'm not sure how much to charge? Should I charge the same as the massage, even though I will be treating for longer?

Any advice would be very gratefully received!
