Yes I like the idea of taking the Viagra in the store, another option is pay a little higher and buying the Viagra in the bathroom of all the major zona bars, it's cost a little higher at $20 dollars, but it does beat the price of going to the doctor, and paying $20 or $100 dollars. $100 dollars! That does sound like it's too much money, what kind of services are you talking about?

Thanks for the info on Dr Romero ScatManDoo I was wodering exactly where his office is. Burt use to talk about this doctor all the time, and others also used him, and seemed to like him. I have a small medical procedure I want done that my HMO might not cover, so I may pay Dr Romero a visit?

I've visted Dr. Romero in 2005 & 2006 for several mexican prescriptions.
His office is located in the small walking plaza right behind the McDonalds at the border.
On one visit I secured RX's for both 60 Ambien pills and 100 Levitra pills. The office visit charge was $20.
On my next visit I secured a refill on the Ambien and got a prescription for 100 Cialis pills. He accepted 200 pesos for his fee.

I've read the warnings here about Tijuana and so the only Viagra I had was already ingested just in case the cops wanted to be dicks.

I spend most of my Mexican adventures in Nuevo Laredo's boystown where there is a police checkpoint at the entrance where at times you have to get out and get patted down. The police are searching for weapons or drugs (real drugs, not medicine). I was down there last month and the guy patted me down and found my small pillbox in my pocket. He asked me what it was. I said I was diabetic (true) that box had my medicine (I said this in Spanish). He opened the box and saw the blue diamond shaped pill that Pfizer has spent zillions promoting and then grinned at me, gave the pill and box back to me and let me pass.

If Viagra without a prescription is a Mexican federal law, the Tamaulipas state PD didn't get the memo.

There are plenty of doctors located across the street from the pharmacies that will give you a scrip for around 100 bucks. Just ask the cabbies to take you. Dont waste your time trying to purchase meds without a scrip.

Gmbrldx is talking about another ballgame, and that's controlled substances, narcotics, steroids etc etc. Those types of drugs you need a prescription for even in Mexico and you can only buy them at specific pharmacies called first class famacias. The Americans who get busted are the ones buying large quantiles of controlled substances like steroids.

The drugs I'm talking about are uncontrolled medicines you can buy over the counter like Viagra, Penicillin and Cipro. These are the type of drugs I buy, for example I get 100 pills of Cipro for about $20 dollars.

You will not go to Mexican prison for having a bottle of Penicillin of a few pills.

Brethren, here are a couple of links re: pharmaceuticals and Mexico. I have no experience buying drugs in TJ. I have spoken to a religious professional who visits Americans locked away in a TJ jail (se llama La Mesa?) for having the wrong meds without a Mexican prescription. I have no reason to believe he is making up the story. I didn't try to pry the details from this gentleman but from reading the articles on the two links below, those said Americans probably were buying some kind of pain-killers / narcotics that are controlled substances.

Yes it's the real stuff, although keep in mind the US goverment warns us there is lot of counterfeit drugs floating around in the world, especially in places like Mexico, and warns against buying the drugs. I been buying drugs for years in Mexico and don't think I ever had a problem with counterfeit drugs and just think the US state department is talking the company line the US drug companies want them to say because drugs are cheaper in places like Mexico then in the US.

Although buying drugs like antibotics, Viagra, and blood pressure medicine because your always blowing your top is legal in Mexico, it sometimes attracks the attention of the TJ cop who will telll you carrying around Viagra is illegal without a prescription, and he'll look for a shake down, but as far as we know, there has never been one case of anybody been before a judge and fined for having Viagra.

It's illegal to take the presciption drugs you brought in Mexico back into the US without a US prescription. Although many thousands of people do just that and just don't declare the prescription drugs they take back into the US.
I read somewhere that the border patrol say they are not in the business of taking people medicine away that they need, so if you at leat declare the drug they might less you pass with it, and just warn you, but I'm not sure, or they may just make you throw it away? I don't know because I'll just put somethng like antibotics in my pocket and won't declare it, and never get checked, but keep it mind that's not the right way of doing it.
