I have read all the posts here with interest. It is interesting that many bros here brought up what they thought are the causes of HC closure.

Bros brought up many valid points but I think the main reasons for HC closure is Raid. Why many raids?

Very simple. The Singapore Police is under a lot of pressure Reviewom the very-top to help the SPA industry to build its name as a clean, luxury and vibrant industry. Because many tourists or even locals whom unknowingly visit HCs thinking they are the SPA equivalent ended up discovered the hanky panky things going on there.

More importantly is that the SPA operators have been lobbying the government to regulate the HCs such that it offers strictly massage so that people don't look at SPA industry being 'dirty'. The operator is using foreign countries' SPA outlets to compare against HCs here.

Government on another hand also see tremendous opportunities in SPA industry to bring in tourist dollars to complement IRs, F1 and other tourism activities. So the government believe HCs should be regulated more strictly so as to protect the SPA industry. Imagine some tourists whom genuinely interested in spa for relaxation ended up at HCs. They either got chased away at the reception or being offered special services by the gals. A few bad incidents when reviewed will destroy the whole industry.

The regulation of HCs has been mentioned in the press and by government officials or police a few times in the past 3 or 4 years - if you read papers/ watched news. Maybe only recently they have the resources to execute it more thoroughly.

So in the name of tourist dollars, the government officials always work very hard. It is not that they don't know hanky panky that have been going on in HCs for years but then there is no spa industry at all. Now there is spa industry.

Agree with bros here that raids are the reason HC's are closing.

Maybe they need two categories of spa - spa and spa-xxx. Two different licensing categories. Then nobody will be confused. But because authorities don't like talk about these issues openly it just will become HC massage only and legal brothels as the legal options. In US massage places have mandatory form to sign saying you are there only for massage and only massage is offered. They even send in female AV to bait customers and proecute the customers. So you can see how extreme the situation can get if the govt. is really serious. But I hope common sense will prevail and all this is just for the election.

More raids are expected, due to the following 2 articles published. I think all those places mentioned in the articles would be severely wipe out.

First article is very damaging, could be written by some opp. To prove it wrong and save face, I guess big boss would order av to work extra hard on those places.

2nd article also very damaging, the writer even ask the MPs to quit because they cannot control TNs, MPs

I think you're close to the mark, but I suspect it's not the spa industry which represents a very small aspect of the economy here, and a very troubled one.. look at some of the problems of spas closing down suddenly etc.

I think the government is putting pressure on SPF but I think it has more to do with election jitters than anything else.. cleaning up foreigners who are here working in jobs they are not supposed to is seen as a way to address many concerns about the influx of foreigners here.

I suspect after elections things will calm down. This happened during the run up to the last election too. After all, I think the more SPF raids, arrests and deports, the more they have to review numbers of illegal workers in SG. That number will not reflect well on them.

I won't be surprised if the government is putting a lot of pressure because for the first time in its history, it might face true competition and must give the impression of cleaning up crime (including illegal foreigners) or voters won't be happy.

Yes; Agreed. HCs in Spore has lost its attractiveness as before. Spend you $ elsewhere and you get better service and value for $..

For example, Macau or Dong Guan that is just 4 hours away will change your perspective about HCs and SPAs in Spore. Low Risk and Higher Sextification...

It really seems like JB's HC business has improve alot Reviewom our Sporean due to the closure of all the good HC in Spore. When I was at New York Spa (JB) on a weekend, I spotted plenty of Sporean cheongers. One of them is wearing the Standard Chartered Bank Marathon T-shirt

However, the girls standard there cannot compare to our Lexon, Casanova (Star/ Sky), etc....... I wonder where are all the GEMS now... I really dont mind to cheong KL if they are there. Had really enjoyed for the past 10 over years of cheonging in Spore.
