I've just rung my Dad and he says I can borrow his Jim Reeves and one by those people who sang "I'd like to teach the world to sing" which is a personal favourite as it advertised coke. I've probably still got some in the car under the passenger seat I can dig out. I'm going to have a special DJ hat made now.

The ticket before midnight is pretty pointless, because I am sure I saw a sign upstairs that just says - free entry before midnight - so why bother getting a ticket?

PS Rio has paid someone to put speakers outside their club, so its even more noisy than ever, but if any one walks past you may notice that they have the wires reversed, + - and - + = no bass and crap sound!

I mean its 2 wires, differently marked and they STILL manage to do this wrong (as with most small bars as well)

Went to Seduction last night.

Nice venue, it was quiet (Monday night) and the farang girls dancing on the podium caused me to avert my eyes to the girl I was with (a good thing because she was bit of a jealous type). Given the circumstances, I couldnt really suss out FLs and the quality/qunatity.

250THB entry with 2 drink coupons. My BG got in for free.

Thanks for the reply. There were many photographers here from Finland for the opening week as well from the local papers. If it was them, it will only be used for puplicity in a newspaper if it is used at all. To my knowledge, none of the pics will be for sale.

As for the music. We are testing the waters so to say. The music seems to be all over the place because we are trying to decied what direction to go. all coments on what you think are welcome. Stop by again and see what you think. C ya soon

If you want my musical vote for what will work in the current Patong climate and keep a large % of patrons happy..

Vocal style funky (garage'y) house.. This is mainstream enough that from there the DJ can work lots of different angles while still keeping a main theme thats pretty middle of the roads club sounds wise.. You can go very soul vocal, Sarah Washington style, piano and acceplla garage'y.. You can work to old school crowd pleasers (can even mine his seam as far as Soul II Soul and C&C music factory if the DJ knows what hes doing and doesnt slip into Vanilla Ice cheese territory) some hands in the air style house anthems.. You can build it a little funkier / harder house without losing the way.. You can even go to hip hop influenced club tunes, Nu Soul clubbier stuff.. You can edge towards the modern discoesque club tunes.. Possible to work electro funk threads into that tapestry.. All while staying around this fairly broad remit.

Its a very versatile sound that is both hard not to at least tolerate, and as such is going to appeal to quite a broad base of punters without really offending the eardrums of anyone, you can push slightly into the more adventerous sounds and still not be too far from mainstream..

Your club will have a much more diverse set of patrons than clubland back in Europe, your not going to be able to really push the edge too much and as great as I think it would be to have themed nights of harder, funkier deep sounds, or two step and modern garage, or a old school club classics night etc.. You will really need a large following than I think patong can give right now..

Just my 2 satang on how I would try the musical landscape to fill the place as a business choice rather then a stylistic choice...

I was annoyed my voucher drink in Seduction came in test tube sized glass, gone in one sip. One drink and NEVER again.
