I need to make up a whole new menu of my services since I'm adding some things, etc. I was wondering if anyone would care to share what is on their menu, how you designed it, do you hand them out or just have one on display...etc etc! Thanks in advance

May I suggest using Google.com to come up with creative descriptions of your services? For instance this website that came up when I searched "massage menu": http://www.hands2u.com/massage.htmIn my own practice I have a framed 8.5" x 11" resume paper with my menu of services (all different forms of reflexology), and a blurb about my cancellation policy (24 hours...yada, yada). Because there are multiple practitioners in my clinic I like to put another frame up on the receptionist counter with a monthly "special." This special flier usually has a picture to grab a reader's eye and then bold or large lettered script about what I am offering. For instance, I had a Mother's Day special and I listed the discounts in bullets and had a really cute background and some attractive clip art. I love to use Microsoft.com's templates when I'm on the go and don't have time to design something from scratch.

Yes, but its still agreat example: maybe of one to differ from! ha ha. I think its great to peek at that stuff. Mine is very simple, more of a price list. On my website, I try to explain more. My service menu (I call it a rack card) is the same size as my postcard gift certs, so I can include it, if requested. (Example, Thursday somebody bought a gift cert for a $100 value - their request, its never even come up before this - and it was great to include service menus, price cards from all the people at my place.)I just make sure that everything I have to hand out, send, etc has my website addy, our phone number, and the street address on it.We do the same thing with the framed info at the reception desk. We just try to keep them spread out & adding to the ambiance; not creating a billboard war for people's attention.Jill/Sagetherapist

Excellent point Jill, our receptionist desk is probably 12 feet long and we'll alternate three frames up at a time. Usually one will have an update of someone's policy (rate change, cancellation, whatever), and then the other two are for special offers or events. It keeps it uncluttered and everyone does a pretty good job of keeping with the style of our waiting room decor. I used to put up my fish bowl on the counter and have a monthly raffle for a free hand reflexology session. I plan to start that again when things slow down this summer and between my house guests.

I have mine posted in the massage room, in my brochures, and on my website.When someone buys a GC for a dollar amount, I just include my brochure which also has my website address listed.  I keep the price list in the brochure simple and elaborate more on the website and on the sheet that is posted in the room. I call my massages "customized" as I don't like to feel limited on what I can do in a session.I offer half hour, hour and hour and half.If someone wants 2 hours that is available, but it is not included on the regular list.I list the specifics of my maintenance plans.I offer a special "headache massage" and that is described seperately.Prenatal and Hot stone are also listed seperately. I try to keep it simple.

While I need to make a new service menu, mine are 3-fold.Outside cover: Business name, picture for decor, address/phoneInside Left: Intro to my practiceInside Center: list of my serives, swedish/relax, deep tissue/therapeutic, hot stone, ear candling, facial treatments, foot/hand/body polishes, paraffin treatments, etc.Inside Right: Info on starting home pamper parties for weddings, girls' night in, etc.Outside Right: Policies and such.EDIT: Forgot to mention, Mimi informed us all that it's best to use semi-cheap paper, because the service menus are just going to be thrown away. I used to use cardstock, but after the same clients take the menu, only to throw it away in the garbage in the same room, or out in the parking lot, I've switched to cheaper paper.

Mine is tri-fold as well. Front cover is just a body shot/image with my name/contact info and a short quote.Inside left is intro about massage therapy (history of). Inside center is info on the importance of communication between client and therapist. Inside right lists many of the benefits that massage brings.Flip it over, the (outside) left lists a Q & A section or FAQ section and the center outside lists services/prices and info about offices.Be well,Jen

EDIT: Forgot to mention, Mimi informed us all that it's best to use semi-cheap paper, because the service menus are just going to be thrown away. I used to use cardstock, but after the same clients take the menu, only to throw it away in the garbage in the same room, or out in the parking lot, I've switched to cheaper paper.

I found the opposite to be true for me.  When I first started, I liked the 28lb paper and printed my menu on that.  They didn't retain their shape as well as cardstock, and I found that many people folded them up and tucked them away or tossed them.  I now use cardstock, and all the ladies that come to the salon tuck it into their purses.  I have seen none in the garbage.
