Slide off or pick up?

When undraping a client to expose their back do you slide the towel down or pick it up? I pick the towel up but I've had massages where the therapist slides the towel down. I personally don't like the feeling of the towel sliding down my back.

I use a sheet, and fold the top part down to expose the back.

Pick up & fold back. But I use a sheet/blanket combo instead of a towel, partly because even the most enormous towel is small enough that something could always use more covering, hence the sliding.

I use a sheet, usually with a blanket as well. I pick up and fold, but I don't know why. Habit, I guess. I never thought about it until you asked.

I dont care for the feeling of having a sheet slid down either.

Yep, and if there isn't any underwear to tuck into, I pin the sheet at their PSIS with my inferior hand, so they can feel a secure stopping point as I fold the sheet back.

I can't understand why towels are so popular, they're scratchy things or seem to be highly perfuned if they use a fabric softener.

I only buy high-quality thick, fluffy towels (not scratchy at all) and never use fabric softner or fragranced detergent. I also only buy very large towels...mine are at least 34x58 and I prefer larger if I can find good ones.
