Dodgers we use to have a couple of idiots hear that thought they new about Tijuana....you seem to be on their level...like kingtijuanero and culero...sitting up in Irvine pretending to know things.

Leyzaola is not playing and is short staffed as he gave polygraphs and did back ground searches on his officers....he fired many with the cartels...and will continue to do so....that is why random officers are getting killed as it is no longer easy to them to get away with what they use to.....

also the Arellano's are out of the Zona Norte and the Chapos are in...although massageplanet do have people in TJ...not any more the Zona Norte

Good advice to Sampson, its best to keep a low profile if you are a gringo in Mexico ,were their is a cartel war with the Mexican government and were 75% of the policias are in the payroll of the carteles.

I know whats up in Tijuana . if i was sampson i would not try to bring attention to myself in Tijuana and with la ley.

How many of your comittee members are Mexicans? The Mexican government,policia don't like gringos telling them what to do in Mexico. Was their cameras in the building were u went to the meeting? You do know that their is policias that saw u guys and will rat u out to the cartels ,rateros ,ganbangers? mongers in TIJUANA are seen as trash by the Mexican officials,policias.

Well my friend was drunk. He had been drinking at a friends house on Baja California and was going to catch a cab over by CC.

He had been drinking tequila and beer. When he passed Mermaids he was attacked from behind. First it was an attempted choke hold...and he got loose...then it ended up being 4 or 5 on 1...he was staying at my home at the time and when he came home his face was swollen to the point I didn't recongize him. He did get some shots in and his fingers had teeth indention's in them from his fighting back. It was on Labor day I believe...definitely a Monday holiday on the US....It happened around 11pm and I checked with guys outside of Mermaids the next night and they confirmed that it had happened there and had been happening their as well.

My friend is a tuff guy believe me. He had like 80 pesos and a pair of sunglasses that he lost. He would have lost his cell phone, but he left it at the friend's house.

I'm sure most of those guys visit the zona from time to time?

I remember reading about nearby Tecate and they wanted to pass a anti Tranny ordinance that said men couldn't dress up as women, and if they did they would face criminal sanctions.

Well the trannies did take to the streets and protest, but they also threatened the local government if they went ahead with their new ordinance that the Trannies would 'out' the government officials who have used the Trannies services in the past.

Guess what? The government officials backed down, and the Trannies went back on the streets. ( that's the story I read somewhere?)

So I could only imagine how many of those government officials go to regular prostitution bars?

Your Mexican friend should come forward and give details about his mugging, because they are a lot of people like me who don't think they would dare target Mexican mongers especially if they could take care of themselves, and aren't drunk.

Fireballs, I was somewhat reluctant to make that meeting as I wondered if I would be recognized. However, I don't believe that is the case. The way things are in Tijuana there are 3 or 4 big news stories each week and unless you were directly involved, you tend to forget.

We did identify ourselves as frequent visitors to the Zona. Martinez mentioned Chavelas several times, but I would guess he is a guy that visits twice a year..his comments were all in humor.

I do keep a pretty low profile and do many things differently than before.

I too don't want to hear that I am a hero....I didn't step in front of any bullets, and I didn't save a baby from a burning car....and their were 5 others on our committee. Ironically a Mexican National friend of mine sat in our first meeting and he ended up getting mugged....and he is a big guy, that most would not want to mess with.

Sampson if I were you, I'd keep a lower profile. In the end nobody cares about nobody, unless they have a mother or wife, and even then sometimes your own family members hate you.

Yes Realphysical if you could walk and chew gum at the same time, you can go to AB, walk around the block to HK, and see the SGs. It's not that dangerous, despite all the stories you hear about TJ. I do it all the time, and so do 100's of other guys from the US all the time.

BTW it appears that the sub station was open last night...I will check again today as some people have been fooled as often they open it up for 15 minutes and get out...however it appeared to have a guy working the desk and things appeared to be close to normal.

Also on Tuesday night I went through in a taxi around 10pm and found 12 foot officers in a two block radius from Articulo 123 and Ninoes Heroes to Coahuila.

I will tell you right now that I don't know the whole truth.

We did meet with Leyzaola and that was not something we were seeking. I just asked for a police representative. The meeting was almost like out of a movie as we met at a grocery store parking lot....got into a white van, went to a parking structure, were frisked, then had to give up our ID's, escorted into an elevator, went up some 5 to 7 stories, and put in a room with glass windows and a big round table that would seat 12 to 15 people.

Martinez was there with an assistant, myself and two people from the committee and then Leyzaola entered. To be honest I was trying to think how I rated to get an hour of this guys time.

I think their were more than one agenda in the room.

1) ours is to call attention to the problem at hand

2) Martinez wanted to get some type of program started to rate the bars for cleanliness, almost like a secret inspection, ie.

In the end Leyaola agreed to beef up security and was very friendly an attentive to our desires.

He was also vocal about how he sees the problem.

1) He acknowledged the muggings were out of hand in the Zona Norte
2) He blames the bars for hiring the Surenos. He understands that they first hire these guys as they think English speaking will bring in more tourists....but he also acknowledges that these guys take advaneforum.xxxe of their positions.
3) He thinks every business owner should point the finger at the rateros. I do as well, however I understand why they don't.


Martinez brought up that one of the many reasons the city does not like the Zona is because they doctor their books and the city does not receive the right amount of taxes from them. Both acknowledged that they tend to try to forget the Zona exists as they don't approve of what happens down there...I think this goes deeper than prostitution.

Now I didn't do this to be a hero. I took the lead because I do care about the community(of mongers) and I have lots of free time and live here. There were 6 people on the committee and a local friend of mine that participated in the meetings. The meeting with Leyzaola was for no more than 3 of us and the others could not make it, so it was a no brainer on who got to go.

Everyone participated in the discussions and they were fruitful I believe. Not everyone at that table was my friend, but more like one friend and 4 acquaintances....We all put aside our differences as we all enjoy the Zona Norte and were not comfortable with the changes the previous months.

I do believe things are better now. I don't know how much our letter writing campaign had to do with it....or how much our meeting with Leyzaola had to do with it, but the guy is no bullshitter. I was honestly embarrassed that he was there as his life is threatened and he is a very important man with much bigger problems, yet he made time for us.

I could not help myself as I did tell him that he has "big balls" and I respect the way he is taking on the cartels. I wished him well and told him that he would never know how much respect that I have for the job he is doing and I know many others feel the same.

Just for the information of those that don't know what is going on....Several months ago one day 8 officers were killed. One of the gunman got on the radio and announced that 5 officers would be killed each week until Leyzaola resigned. He chose to fight and has fired many officers determined to be corrupt. The guy comes from a military background and is battling like no other chief of police ever has. I like underdogs...but I don't see how he can win, but all the same I have huge respect for what he is doing and how he is going about it.

Now some people want to give Sampson all the credit for making TJ safe once again. And in case you don't know Sampson and a group of mongers met and had a storm group think session where they brought up ideas in a prostitution bar...how to make TJ safer from chokeholding rateros. ( I think all meetings should take place in a prostitution bar)

One of those things some members wanted to do is set up a 'sting" where a monger decoy would go out there as bait, and when the rateros take the bait, the members would simple beat the shit out of the ratero!

I think I helped nix that idea, when I brought up the point I'd hate to be those guys when the rateros gang retaliated against them in the bars where they hang out.

So what the group did was sent out emails to the tourist director in Tijuana who seemed to take their concerns seriously. Later they tried to met with the chief of police, but that was canceled. But later I now understand they did meet Leyzaola, Secretary of Security of Tijuana and some issues were address.

Now one member of the group, not Sampson tried to give Sampson and the group credit for making Tijuana safe once again!

So since I sent my own letter of concern to the tourist board. I asked Arturo Martinez from the tourism office, if the group met with them and the chief of police, and he did say Sampson and the group did met with the group, and some issues were address, but he also said the ball is in their court? Whatever that means? That probably means if they want to set up a neighborhood watch programs, they could but they are on their own to get merchants to sign on their program???

Martinez also knew or suspected this group were mongers from the US, and said, " we definitely do not promote this kind of tourism, but since they are visitors in our country and state, we have the obligations to assist the best way possible."

Here is what I think. First of all I have nothing against Sampson, or what he tried, the email and meetings were a good idea, and you have nothing to lose.

But I also don't think much will be accomplished as TJ been a corrupt and semi-dangerous place for years, and no small group is going to be able to clean up TJ just because they are upset a few of them got mugged.

However, what I didn't like is a few members of Sampson's group would want to get involved, and then claim credit, and later try to make the claim TJ is now safe. ( I'm not into fairytales)

I also didn't like this lesbian gringa from the rich suburbs start going all hysteria over the choke hold stories and started to view Sampson and the committee as heroes on white horses, and people shouldn't say anything negative towards their efforts.( I don't need heroes on white horses)

So now you have fairytales, white horses, and ranting lesbians!

That's just asking too much of me to not make comment on this whole issue.

I haven't heard of a mugging against an American monger in months, nor since some of these mugging incidents appeared in sex forums have I seen any dangerous gang bangers lurking in dark corners ready to pounce on some drunk gringo.( the thing about the last few reports, guys like Mepeters weren't drunk as far as I know?)

Now I think the spike in TJ muggerings that might have occurred for two reasons: One there was a lack of police presence in the "Zona Norte" for a time as the TJ police felt they were open targets to cartel drug members, and had to figure out a way of protecting their own people before serving the public.

I think a few local Mexican street gangs took advaneforum.xxxe of the situation, and went around and mugged people, especially drunk gringos. ( the funny part to me, and I say this because the mugging victims didn't really get hurt, is that the rateros picked some of the cheapest mongers to mug, and didn't get too much money out of them.)

i was in TJ a couple of weeks ago and all i can say is that it was the best time ive ever had.
other times ive seen fights, or people dragged outside the club, i even got mugged by TJs finest together with my buddy.

this time around no incidents at all. we took a cab from the border to adelitas, had dinner at one of the local food places, headed back to hong kong, walked to the allies to check out the SGs. even went to the store to get some blue pills.

we used the buddy system, we had a few but didnt get drunk, and maybe we just got lucky.

im not saying you need to be an ass to get robbed, but it's clearly not as bad a some make it seem.

I go to the Zona all the time and have for many years. I don't think street mugging has been a big problem in at least 5 years. Most of the muggings I have seen or heard about involved some idiot drunk assed gringo stumbling around the Zona. If you stumble in the Zona IMHO you deserve to get mugged for being that stupid.

There was a rash of police misconduct for a couple of years that peaked in 2007. But, that seems to have stopped, or at least it is much less common than it was a couple of years ago. A cop hasn't so much as looked at me in many months.

Honestly, in the past year I have only seen things to be very quiet in the Zona. Never felt safer. I think that a mugger would have to be very bold and very stupid to pull anything in the alley- too many witnesses and off-duty cops around working as bouncers. Don't drink too much. And use good manners and obey the laws. You will be fine.

Mepeter's I believe you were mugged in TJ a few months ago.

Now I do question some of those other reports that claimed 6 muggings took place that same day.

In fact you were the only high profile monger that got attacked as far as I know. The rest of those guys I never heard of, and some of those reports are from known bullshit artists, and if they were to tell me the sky is blue I wouldn't believe them, based on their other stories.

So what's the first think you do when you get your "passcard?" You take a trip to TJ. Well that tells me it's not all that dangerous if the first thing you do is head back to TJ.


It's not my turn yet? Hell I been going to TJ now for years, but I slowed the last few years only making about 25 to 30 trips a years, and I average two girls a trip now.

So I just got to ask Mepeter's is how often were going to TJ when you turn came up?

Now they may get me one day, but it's not going to be a surprise. Nobody is going to come up behind me, and surprise me! That's how aware of my surroundings that I am.....so if they are gong to get me, it's going to be face to face, because I'll turn around before they get me.

That's just the way I am, even when I'm walking my dog in the suburb I sometimes get weird vibes from people, and keep away from them

With some education you don't need to fear the cops...just tell them you are not paying and want to see the judge...that does not work with muggers however.
