i hear what you guys are saying, i hold no grudge for the 3 cops that stopped us. it did not kill my mood nor will it stop me from going to tj again. i can understand why they stop us, could be because of looks or just 2 of us. it was no big deal just like here in the US, cops could pull you over anytime if you fit the description or something in their head tells them to pull you over.

Little man, you got the replies from all the "big guns" of our forum Another thing we have to consider, Zona is a known place for drugs and "anti social" behaviour just like any other similar places all over the world. Cops would be more zealous in their job over here, though I dont agree. It is to be expected occassionally though its unfortunate. I am glad that you came out "unscathed", it was a nuisance, but I think it wasnt totally out of place, again I am not justifying the cops job.

That's right, Tijuana is a lot safer than many places in the US. I believe it's been reported that TJ Cops have got their guns back according to the news last week. Yes the TJ Police might ask to search you if you look out of place, or fit their profile of a drunk American, who might possibly have drugs or prescription drugs without the prescription. Yes they are doing their job making Tijuana safer, but will line their pockets when the right opportunity presents itself to them.

If you did nothing wrong most of the time the TJ cops will let you go. It's just a minor annoyance but you'll be on your way in a minute or two. I believe it's overblown or just down right BULLSHIT, that the cops are planting things on people, or shaking them down and stealing money from them for no reason. You'll see over-the-top stories from mongers on some of these sites. The TJ Cops really don't have to resort to making things up, as their are always tourist and locals breaking petty laws like being drunk in public, pissing on the sidewalk, or carrying illegal drugs, or drugs they say require a prescription......It's like 'shooing fish in a barrel' for them.

Since the new year I been to Tijuana three times, and each time it's been getting better and better as more and more girls return. The girls went home for the holidays, sometimes very far away, and it just takes time for them to get back to Tijuana.[ even when the picking were slim, I still found me 'nice pussy.'}

I think the confusion over the new 'passport' rules has kept a few Americans away from visiting Mexico. I seriously doubt police shakedown stories are keeping away the tourists from Mexico and Tijuana. It's has always been common knowledge that Tijuana police are corrupt and they accept bribes.

The only place you hear about police shakedown with such frequency is on 'Prostitution sex forums' where they write about police corruption in Tijuana more than they write about getting laid.

There is no problems with tj, in fact it is safer than some places
in the us. The cops dont even have guns and yes I have
noticed they are doing a lot more shakedowns. I believe it is
because they are trying to clean up the area. If you have
nothing to hide they will search you and send you on your
way. There is still a decent amount of girls in tj, the previous
post may be right and more girls will be coming as it warms up.
The girls come and go....some live in tj, others come from
far away and only stay for a few months to earn money for
the whole year. The only negative I have is the border lines
which seem to be getting longer every year. I dont even
go down to tj on weekends anymore and holiday weekends
are horrible. Also, the stupid passport law is coming so now

I've been hearing about this sort of activity occurring more at the border than in the Zona. It usually occurs late at night. Also it seems the more one drinks the more likely one is to have problems with the cops.

The cops are usually looking for guys carrying ED medication like Viagra. (It's been debated here and elsewhere if Mexican law actually requires a Rx to purchase and carry ED medication. The cops take the position a RX is needed.) When they find somebody with ED medication they extort a bribe by threatening to arrest the person. (So far nobody who has politely "stood firm" by refusing to pay the bribe and asking to see a judge has been arrested.)

Normally the cops don't the take any money if they don't find ED medication. However, obviously the more a person has been drinking the more likely he is to be confused and unable to remember what happened.

I've had reports from guys who'd been drunk that they'd had problems. Sometimes they get extorted for public drunkenness. Other times (when the cops think they're too drunk to remember) their money gets stolen.

I'm sorry to hear about your "adventure." Sadly, it is becoming a common one.

Holidays in Mexico actually don't end until January 6th, the Day of the Three Wise Men, which is the traditional time for gift giving. But that is beside the point.

Many chicas go home for the holidays; many also have been saving money. They enjoy being with their children, extended family, and friends hence they don't return until they run out of money. (Also many don't enjoy the Tijuana winter weather, which is another reason they aren't in a hurry to return.)


No doubt others feel the same and that is causing a drop in tourism. (IMHO things for mongers are as safe as ever.)

Perhaps another reason for the drop in tourism is some people think (incorreclty) that a passport is now required to go to Mexico.

it was on the 26th of jan. 2007 around 1:30 a.m. behind the bars in front of HK,miami bars. there were like only 2-3 sg it was pretty dead i ask my friend to leave the area but he insist. when we got to the corner three cops in a car came out and searched us. they ask if i know how to speak spanish i said no but i answered some words back in spanish. we was searched of everything in every pocket but no money was taken. we had like 1-2 beers i know i wasn't drunk i know what i was doing. then we was let go i said, "gracias."
