Coming from Rochdale, I always used to and still do if I am there at the time, go to the Saddleworth Whit Friday bands concert! What a brilliant weekend that is.

Dobcross, Hebden Bridge, Brighouse, Fodens and Wardle High (My old school) to name the ones I can remember!! There are normally over 100 bands there. You have youth bands playing against some of the best in the country. All moving around the pubs in a circuit. They have to play a couple of marches and then thier usually fantastic, best piece at each one and sinking a pint or two at each one! Not the youth teams, well, some do!!

There is an adjudicator at each pub who scores them and then they march off to the next pub!! Brilliant. You can either follow along or get a seat and the bands come to you. The last bands through are normally playing the best because they are half cut!!

I think it is getting more and more popular every year, bit of a nightmare if you live around there, roads closed, loads of coaches etc but what a fantastic weekend it is. :cheers: :cheers: :cheers:
