Not so simple. At checking Thai airways see that my return-ticket is 6 weeks later. No visa in the passport, I am not even allowed on the plane.

I am Belgian, live in Southern France. The Thai Embassy here is making trouble for 2 things:

1. To obtain a visa, I have to be French citizen, or have a resident-card wich I don't have (they only issued that for 6 months, and as I did not have work here anymore refused to extend it).

2. Same-same but different for Thai embassy, I am not officially working.

I can get a visa in Belgium. But I have to bring the passport myself, they refuse to issue a visa by mail. I am not going to drive 1200 Km to obtain a visa. I also have to wait 3 days at least, after I gave them my passport!

Sounds typically french difficult.. I can get a tourist visa in most Euro copuntries even if not resident, have got them all over the world (tourist not non imm) just by turning up and usually in one day..

Then book a dirt cheap onward ticket on one of the budget carriers like tiger etc.. either use it for a visa ruin or throw it away..

Also I have found that the onward ticket thing can be very hit and miss some airlines ask some (most) dont.. Me and all my mates just have an arrangment with a local travel agent, she writes up a 'booking' on her headed paperwork that we are supposed to collect the ticket when we arrive in Patong..
