Yes, we have all sort of people here and some are extreme. I don't care comments by many here because some may be a promoter who may have interests that may not serve the group and some may have ideas that are unbelievable crazy.

And then people wonder why many are hesitant to get the vaccine. I understand that vaccines provide partial protection but these numbers (13 hospitalized; 3 in ICU) are pretty head scratching considering the vax efficacy touted by its advocates. The same advocates who shame those who either refuse to take it or are reluctant to take it. Maybe it's a stretch but if we continue to see a rise in hospital numbers with a considerable amount of fully vaxxed people a part of that list and another possible lockdown, how on earth do you think people on the fence (like myself) to take the jab can be convinced to do it?

We'll still wear masks, possibly limit our gatherings in the winter and probably be restricted from travelling, dining out, watching live events etc. We'll be mandated, restricted and micromanaged the exact same way we were last year regardless of vaccine status. What's the point of the jab then? What's in it for us if things don't change for the better? Because I sure as hell am not doing it for your grandma.

If people are hesitant or doubt the efficacy, then I don't think they understand what's happening around them. Now, I don't address this to those who maintain it's all a lie. If you are among those who do not believe the numbers are real, then we don't have a basis for conversation. But if you are not putting it all down to conspiracy, then the fact an increasing number of covid cases are among the vaxxed should not come as a surprise. With an ever increasing portion of the population vaccinated, it stands to reason that of those who will be infected are the vaxxed . After all, as I've said before, if the vaccine truly is even 95% effective, that still translates into hundreds of thousands of probable cases in Canada alone. What one should keep an eye on is the development of serious covid cases among the vaxxed, and so far, that's incredibly low. The last I heard, if you're double vaxxed you have a one in 27000 chance of getting seriously ill or dying from covid. What about the unvaxxed? Will, there's no point in discussing them. We already know what the virus and its variants do in unvaccinated populations. If you don't want the vaccine, well that's your choice.

The numbers tell the story. Using the U.S. as an example, deaths are at about 300 per day and the unvaccinated comprise more than 99.9% of those. In Ontario we had two covid deaths yesterday. The vaccine works. That's your story.

The vaccines can help to prevent the pandemic but not 100%. Therefore we should go for vaccination and takes precautions after getting it.

Gone up relative to when? U.K. had like 40 deaths a couple of days ago.

I'm not a big believer in masks and I confess I'm heartily sick of them. There is zero proof they work and unless you're wearing an N95, they aren't even meant for your protection.

As well, I don't think it is now "up to each individual to handle the pandemic" That applied before the vaccine. But now, with an effective vaccine, individual actions (aside from choosing not to get vaxxed), count for very little. As long as the vaccine is effective, it's game over and we should go back to normal life.

I'm not shocked that vaccinated people can still pass it on to unvaccinated people or even amongst themselves. All I was saying was that, as implausible as it sounds now, if we do see a considerable rise, not just in cases, but in hospitalizations/ICUs among the fully vaxxed that could warrant another lockdown, there is no way a vax advocate can convince someone on the fence into taking the jab. As early as the summer or even in the first month of fall, an undecided person like myself will see the trajectory of how this all plays out and that will factor into whether I take it or not.

Of course I believe COVID is real but I also believe it has a high survival rate and mostly affects the old, sickly or obese. I also believe there were ways to protect the vulnerable and not overwhelm the healthcare system without having to sarifice the majority of the population's means of livelihood, mental health and cognitive development of their children. We've discussed this ad naseum. I can't cry over spilled milk. I can only move on and be thankful we're past that phase. All I care about now is this. The vaccines are out. Will it improve the quality of my life? Will I be able to do all the things I've waited a year and a half to do again? If the answer is YES, I'm in. If the answer is NO or MAYBE, don't waste my time (not you sy barite). I'm not taking it. If I take it but still live like I'm unvaccinated, like it's still 2020, to hell with the vax. The pro-vaxxers and anti-vaxxers can argue all day long about the vax efficacy or lack of it. They can both counter each other's arguments about the health benefits and repercussions of doing so. If either one of those camps comes to me trying to convince me with their talking points, they both can save it because I don't give a crap either way. Again, one simple question. Will things change for the better? YES or NO.

Sure, things are opening up but not quick enough in the summer. There isn't enough to do now to warrant me taking the jab. The U.S. border is closed, the U.K. still wants Canadians to quarantine regardless of vax status, there aren't enough concerts/sports events happening here in Ontario this summer and it sure is slim pickings at our favourite spas. So for now, no jab. I'm still waiting for a sign.

The way I interpret the data: vaccines are not 100% effective so even if you have a vaccine that is 95% effective and you're dealing with millions of people then that 5% will equal ten zillion posts, memes and videos on Massage Planet trumpeting every detail of every exception to the rule.

It seems there are quite a few posters who view medical treatments that are incredibly effective – but not 100% effective – as not only being worse than useless: they are the most dangerous, evil thing that has ever happened in human history so far!
