VTCT Reflexology certificates - HELP

This is very important to me, so I'd be very grateful for replies.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the following VTCT reflexology certificates? What does one cover more than the other, and what difference does it make to you professionally if you get one instead of the other? Please help if you know! Thanks .

- C1080 Level 3 Certificate in Reflexology Techniques
- C1033 Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology.

Hi there. A diploma is a higher qualification than a certificate if that helps and is looked upon as such.

You can always speak to the college and ask them for advice as you don't want to get on the wrong course. VTCT also do an advanced reflexology course, but you need to do the first one first.

Agree with candie here, I did the VTCT Diploma. Don't know the specifics but we had to do a business plan, which is extra from the certificate. The difference was never really explained. I suppose the Diploma would be a lot more involved but I don't know how as I didn't do the cert. Not much help really am I [&:] From the title of the Cert one it seems that you just learn the basic Reflexolgy moves but I'm not sure. I'll shut up now 'til I know what I'm on about [&:]

Well, I can't ask the college so I don't do the wrong course cause I've already done the course! . I've done all my written and practical assessments and all my case studies, and the Level 3 Certificate doesn't just cover basic techniques, we do the whole treatment thing and we are allowed to work professionally, but we didn't do the business plan, so perhaps that's the only difference. I did my A&P before the course which I passed, and I did the Health and Safety section, which I also passed, with my Indian Head Massage course (also VTCT), although we didn't do that with reflex, but I'm sure once you've passed it with one course it's valid for any others.

Maybe all I need to 'progress' to Diploma 'status' is to do the business plan. I hope so, as even if that's the only difference, the word Diploma sounds so much better, doesn't it?!

Hi, the Level 3 certificate is the old style 'Diploma in Reflexology'. The level 3 Diploma is the the old style 'Advanced Diploma' The difference is 10 more 4 week case studies for the Diploma, plus Hand and Ear Reflexology, crystal work, colour work, basic Kinesiology & Iridology. Plus a boat load of essays. Of course, as with all VTCT courses this varies depending on the tutor!

So as I have already got the old 'Diploma in Reflexology', if I wanted to advance, I would have to now do the new 'Diploma in Reflexology'. Won't look very good on my CV, will it?

Hi, I have been wondering about this myself. I did the supposed original Diploma in Reflex last year in with my Holistic Diploma, I started the 'Advanced' this year, but was told it was no longer called 'Advanced' but a Level 3 Diploma. My original 'Diploma' was now called a 'Certificate'!
Maybe they are calling the old Diploma a Level 2? All I know is that it was to bring VTCT Diplomas in line with ITEC.

Hi.

Having just completed a VTCT IHM course which commenced with a document saying that it was no longer a Diploma course - which is why the course notes were blue instead of yellow -, and then receiving our assessment books which were YELLOW and stating that they were for the 'Diploma Course', makes me wonder if the VTCT actually know what they are doing.

We have received one letter for each exam informing us that we have passed the two 'written' exams but nothing yet from the VTCT telling us that we have passed the course and can practise.

Compared with the examinations and notification procedures of other professional organisations who give single and rapid notification of examination and course results makes me wonder what the VTCT are playing at. They are supposed to be an internationally recognised body and yet they perform like a bunch of amateurs!

I am not surprised that there is confusion about what your diplomas/certificates stand for. Perhaps we should ALL write to the VTCT and ask the what the devil they are playing at but, I suppose, with the rapidity that they produce results and diploma/certificates we would never get any replies.

What a way to run a 'professional' organisation!

I agree that VTCT have had problems, my mate Honeybee has experienced them. However, ITEC are no better with their exam results. I have had mine back in four weeks and fourteen weeks and others inbetween. They never respond to complaints either. They basically don't give a toss[:'(]. If they did, they might know about this place and put one of their staff on to fight their corner![sm=soapbox.gif]

when i did my VTCT massage it was a diploma but because of the delay in awarding , long story of college losing my work, the goalposts had moved and i got a certificate 8 months later.....grrrrrrrrr my tuttor was mad as he said my work was equal to an advanced diploma ! confused ? i was
when i wrote to vtct they referred me back to the college who referred me back to the vtct .......i gave up and stuck the certificate on my wall ,and resorted to thinking "what the heck i know i am a good therapist"

i then went to a different college and did IHM diploma and got the diploma in the post only 2 weeks after completing the course .....tho my tutor said my work was at advanced stage

it seems that the colleges and vtct arent communicating as effectively as they should
