Finally did an update to http://www.joshuaalexandercmt.com/

There's sooo much more to be done, on all fronts... design, functionality, content... but it's a lot slicker than the old design, and more fully tested for cross-browser compatibility.

Whatcha think? My main fear is that it's too slow to load. Your experience?

Looks nice. Just a comment, since you have done web stuff in the past:

When coming off of the Services page and ont the FAQ or Contact page, the load was very slow. Enough that I thought neither of those 2 links worked.

I really like the page about your "Studio" space.

Dang.

That's one of the top 5 most gorgeous, informative, and clear massage websites I've seen. The care you lavish on the website and communication is evident, and I think that will show clients the level of commitment they can expect from your care.

Not at all slow to load here. And everything shows up in Safari, which is known for seeing content selectively.

The front page photo and all that talk of Humboldt County make me miss my N. California home so much . . .

Your site looks great, everything loaded ok for me. Your studio looks wonderful, I love the colors and the hanging silk..very nice. The photos of you and your smile are great!! I need to get a pic of me on my site, I know that makes a difference. Good job :)

Great! I had no loading issues. My only thing is on the home page, on the bottom, there is some blue links and the contrast against the background color is crazy on my eyes.

i love it though!

Incredibly good website. Two tiny nitpicks:

1.I like a site to have a "home" link in the navbar. Even though I'm used to title clicking to get "home" I usually have to remind myself if there's no link.
2. This sentence on the "home" page:

"Trying to find the right massage therapist in San Francisco can be easier. " Huh? Easier than finding you? You provide referrals? I got stuck there. You're good but others are better and they are hard to find?

Thank you folks for all of your wonderful compliments. This confirms for me the importance of the facelift. The content has't changed significantly since I launched this version (with the exception of the Studio page that was released in between), but the comments in this thread versus the launch thread have a completely different tenor and enthusiasm. Style DOES matter!

1.I like a site to have a "home" link in the navbar.

Hehe... I have a pet peeve against home links. The upside? Now instead of doing sites for many clients, all without home links, I'm only doing mine.

2. This sentence on the "home" page:"Trying to find the right massage therapist in San Francisco can be easier. " Huh? Easier than finding you? You provide referrals? I got stuck there. You're good but others are better and they are hard to find?

Weeell... to be honest, that's just in there for SEO purposes. I needed to use the words "massage therapist" and "San Francisco" in a sentence.

Any suggestions for a different sentence to use there will be GLADLY considered.

But, to explain what was going on through my SEO-hungover mind when I wrote it... it's not easy to find legit therapists in the Castro. Lots of people advertise "non-erotic" and don't mean it. I've even seen a massage therapist in the Bay Area who has two different websites, one of which explicitly states no erotic work, and the other that explicitly states otherwise.

Part of the function of the overall website is to increase my credibility beyond what one can fit into a print ad. It seems to work--clients obviously believe me because they don't push the boundaries :-)

Question: have you heard anything about the script for GA making pages load slower? I'd rather use GA than Statcounter, which is my current tracker.

Some googling turned up problems in 2006... I'm still not ruling it out. Although I upgraded my server's PHP and that seems to have given a nice speed boost.

What don't you like about Statcounter?

I think it is so cool that you have included YOURSELF as the 'furniture' in you room in terms of feng shui.

Wow, thank you. I hadn't thought of it quite like that!

And yay Tauruses...

"The room is hung with dupioni silk by Scalamandre in the colors of four of the Chinese Five Elements: Fire, Metal, Wood, and Earth. The fifth element, Water, is my constitutional element."

This is SO cool! Edited to add for clarity: I think it is so cool that you have included YOURSELF as the 'furniture' in you room in terms of feng shui. It is so true. You are a fixture in your room, and clients won't be there without your influence. A very subtle and I imagine influential consideration.

I'm sorry I didn't check for inconsitencies, but like others have said, your site is really great. I will use it as a reference when I rebuild my site one day.

Best,

Shiva

ps. My b-day is May 10th, too!

It's beautiful--so fresh and clean! Love the big picture of you on home page.

What someone suggested to me once was to make sure that when someone clicks on a link that it opens up in a new window so that your page would not be lost to them. Otherwise, it's brilliant and impressive!

Wow! Your web-site is really awesome! It looks so great, it makes me want to come clear out there from Ohio just to have you work on ME!! LOL!

Seriously, I love how you have addressed so many different things on the site. I have been considering getting a web-site for myself, but now I know I will have to get one. After seeing yours, I realize just how beneficial having a great site can be for your business. Thanks!

WOW!! I love your site! I like all the pictures and especially the one on your home page as the back drop. I thought the content was very informative.

I didn't notice anything else to be fixed in addition to the issues that have all ready been pointed out.

Again, I say, "Wow!" I love your site!

Overall, very beautifully executed.

Looks nice. Just a comment, since you have done web stuff in the past:

When coming off of the Services page and ont the FAQ or Contact page, the load was very slow. Enough that I thought neither of those 2 links worked.

I really like the page about your "Studio" space.

Finally did an update to http://www.joshuaalexandercmt.com/

There's sooo much more to be done, on all fronts... design, functionality, content... but it's a lot slicker than the old design, and more fully tested for cross-browser compatibility.

Whatcha think? My main fear is that it's too slow to load. Your experience?

Thanks!

I didn't notice anything else to be fixed in addition to the issues that have all ready been pointed out.

ps, the contact page was slow to load, the links page VERY slow. Home page came up pretty quick. Your source code looks really clean.

Question: have you heard anything about the script for GA making pages load slower? I'd rather use GA than Statcounter, which is my current tracker.

Overall, very beautifully executed.

California home so much . . .
