We've *gotta* get a washer and dryer for the office.

Just a gripe, really. Now that things have been picking up since we opened (a *good* thing!), I'm finding that we're doing more "office" laundry than "family" laundry- and with 12 people in the family, that's saying something! Business laundry takes priority, but when you only have so many loads' worth of time in a day, this is getting ridiculous. Between the sheets, cloth diapers for the 2yo (whom I am hoping will potty train SOON! But we'll be back here again before we know it.), I prefer to wash my kitchen towels and washcloths daily, and basic clothes, towels, and sheets for the family, this is getting way beyond me, way fast. I do *not* have the time to go sit in a laundromat either, nor enough sheets to be able to only go once a week. And the 'safest" laundromat I feel comfortable in is several miles away now that we have moved. And I can't carry heavy laundry anymore either... or shouldn't, anyway.

We have a little closet in the office that we have already put a commercial dryer outlet in. There is a bathroom on the other side of the wall- no drilling of concrete necessary, all we have to do is get someone to pass a couple of pipes through the wall. I know that the city would require us to get a permit and hire a city-licensed plumber to do the job- which shouldn't cost all that much, I don't imagine. I'd hope, anyway. Maybe we could find someone to barter services with. DH has a friend who knows how to do what needs to be done, but I'm not sure I want to "thwart" the city on that, because I don't want to end up on their "bad side"- we live here as well as work here, and we are wanting to continue both for a LONG time. Be nice if we all got along, lol! We'll also have to put in a vent for the dryer, which can go right up through the ceiling, into the attic, and out the wall on the other side of that next-door bathroom. Simple, short run, only one turn. Probably also need to get a "permit" for that- blah.

Then I'll have to get a washer and dryer. Due to the size of the closet, we'll need to get one of those smaller "stackable" units. We may end up needing to put n a larger door to the closet too- especially as my tummy gets bigger, so I can fit through it! : I've been looking at those units. New, we're looking at close to $1000. Used, I can get a "decent" ("decent" being a relative term when it comes to used stuff, I realize) set for around $350. That's way more affordable, especially right now.

I know that most of y'all manage without laundry facilities on your work premises. Most of you aren't also doing laundry for 12. For us, the peace of mind in being able to keep our business laundry separate- cutting out having to lug it back and forth, worry about whether or not there's dog or cat hairs mixed up with the sheets (or people hair- ick! My girls have LONG hair that wads up in little balls. Nasty!), worry about whether or not a kid stopped the dryer and the laundry sat in it overnight, damp and smelly, and worrying about whether or not the diapers have gotten clean because there's been work laundry going *all day long*, will be worth it. The less stress the better, especially for a pregnant momma who's already not used to working, right? Besides, the landlord pays for the water there (until/unless it gets over a *certain* amount, wherein he will ask us to pay the difference. Which is reasonable.).

Anyway, this is just a vent. LOL!
