Why do you practice animal massage/therapies?

t115 Thought it would be very interesting to hear what has brought those of you who practice animal massage, or any other animal therapy to your path/calling. Indeed, it is a unique perspective!

...or, maybe you are thinking of moving in this direction (?).

I am interested, just becasue I feel our furry friends deserve as good of treatment as we do. There are unfortunatley ignorant people when it comes to animals and the pain and tension they feel in their muscles.

They have aches and pains to, and stress as well. I hope to get into some form of animal therapy once I start(and finish) massage school.

And if nothing else it would diversify my clientle

I am not a certified AMT (yet!), but I can tell you what brought my husband (and therefore me!) into this:

He was a jockey before we met, and after we married he spent 16 + years trying to make a living off the track and apart from his beloved horses. As a horseperson myself, I, too, was really missing my big-hearted friends. As he was much older now, and definitely unable (and unwilling, for safety reasons) to start racing again, we were stumped as to what to do. When someone told us about Equine Massage, we realized that was it! I researched schools online, he picked Don Doran's school in Florida, and that's all she wrote....

He got into "people" massage because his clients' owners kept asking if they could be next.....
