why I hate Baya Beach

against my own good advice and not particularly mao I dropped into baya last week just to see if I still hated it...............

Still the same ugly farangs in there.....still the same lamo tgs hanging out at the bar praying on the punters buying a drink and still the same lame music.......

Decided I'd stay for a drink as the quick look around isn't really fair when all you have seen is all the usual suspects and heard one half assed song........

Ordered a drink and one for the Gerard Depardieu look alike TG perched on a bar stool next to the service area......as she begged me and I thought whatthe cause no one else will buy the ugliest TG in the world a drink I'm sure.......

handed over 1000bht for the 2 drinks and stood there waiting for an eternity for the change......waiting waiting waiting...........then had finished the drink so called over the bar gal and asked her for my change as the drink had only made the place seem even worse than I remembered........she said solly and went to the check out chick at the back to speak to her and came back with 200bht...........

Still cool I pointed out that I had given her 1000bht and only bought 2 drinks......so she goes back to the cc and then tries to ignore me as long as possible..........next minute i turn around and the bill wallet had been taken off the bar so i assumed it was about to be sorted...........

waited for another eternity before calling over the falang manager who I always avoided as much as possible as everytime I lok at him my eyes slide off.......he is just so oily..........I point out what has happenned to him and he goes to talk to both bt and and cc........after much toing and froing he comes back over and says that I only gave 500bht and that I had left the change on the bar as a tip.........

Now I don't lose my cool much in LOS but I just let rip at this guy and told him what a dump he ran and that they are basicaly thieves working for him......and that if he really cared he would give me my money back......

he just turned his back on me and walked away thai style..........what a wanker............

A pox on the dump..........he really did me a favour........I'll never be back........not ever!!!!!

Gee I suddenly feel better now!!!!!

You actually saw sober people in Safari?? I was going there just about every nite my last tour and even the staff seemed ripped. However i was living on red bull and vodka from 2 - 6 am so my judgement may not have been the best.

I always thought baya was ok because of the music, but if the music went downhill (taipan style) then i would probably pass next time around. I kinda like tiger because at least there's room to move and service is fast. but ooh those bastardly steps!

There are some pluses(music, hot girls) and minuses(small, bad service, mini-size drinks light on the booze, typical Frenchies/Algerians). I can take it or leave it, although I admit I have had some pretty good nights there.

BUT, I really liked the place that was there before Baya. Was very sad to see it go, as it was one of my favorite funky Thai eateries. Extremely modest place, but great food, at an unbeatable price. And as a place for people watching on a hot Patong afternoon, right there on the street at the busiest intersection in town, it was the best, absolutely priceless! I will always have fond memories of that place! :biggrinlo

well fellow bms,,according to the posts on this one,,it has to be said that the manement of baya have done themselves no favours at all with the short change incident,,it simple,,spend elsewhere,,where people will be glad of you r money,and where youll enjoy not waiting on change

Personally i don't really like the place either, its a bit small, and last time i was there it was too crowded. Seemed like an ok place though, although i never ordered a drink when i was there as i didn't want to stand shoulder to shoulder with someone i didn't know. What the manager did wasn't very nice.... He's in hospitality for a reason... Its his job to be hospitable, if he's not, he should find a new profession.

Although looking at it from a different view, maybe he thought you were a cheap falang trying to pull a fast one on him.

If I throw the likes of Tiger, Tai Pan, Baya, VIP etc in one pool I would likely prefer Baya....
It is the only place which plays half decent music and keeps musid styles a bit more apart. In IE Tai Pan you can go from R&B to house and Hip Hop within 2 minutes, which is not to my liking. In Baya they play more sets of styles.

Baya tends to get a little different public from 'the others'. It has a bit more of a club feel when compared with IE Tai Pan. Different style attracts different clientele. How small the differences may be.
It is good that there is actually a difference between different venues, at least it is not all of the same...

As for the manager. I do fully agree that that is a wrong way to deal with a problem. Most im[portant is to have everybody walking out happy....

My critisism with Baya is with the drinks. They pour so called floaters, first the softs and on top the alcohol. Your first sip is very strong and gradually you end up drinking soft drink with a splash of alcohol.

My favourite club though, because of interior, music and drinks, is La Baia. This place deserves a larger following. I know, location is a bit of but it desrves a better following. Prices have been adjusted and it is more affordable now.

i dont mind baya,music is alright........i'd defintely say it attracts some of the best in FL material for patong aswell,top totty.
but ye its full of lotion boys and a bit cramped which puts me off sometimes.
always nice to slip in for a few before the onslaughter.

La Baia is really nice, always empty though... I'm guessing its due to the hotel always being empty as well. Drink prices here are similar to drink prices in bkk or at least it used to be unless they've changed they're pricing. The one thing i don't like in La baia is the service. Bartender is a REAL idiot... And they have things on their menu that they don't even carry... Really did my head in. But once you get your drink the way you want it, i must say its a nice place to take someone to for simple, relaxing conversation. Wouldn't go there to party though, unless it eventually draws a crowd.

Ive never been ripped there. I do enjoy the music, but its just so small and sooooo cramped. Standing shoulder to shoulder sweating like pigs is not comfortable. I do like the talent in there though. Sorry it went so poorly for you in there N1.

I don't know the owner but I've heard he's not nice to the staff and he yells at them. I've never had a problem with him or his staff. And I don't think they make it a habit of shortchanging.

The problem I think is Baya really only happens for a brief period compared to Taipan, Tiger and Banana (2-3) hours and when you look there are not many staff behind the bar. Yes it takes forever to get your change but if you really notice it's because thay are busting their asses. I hate waiting as well. They need more staff but then the guy would have higher payroll.

The guy should have given the money back.

The music is better than most of the clubs in Patong.

The FL's that go in there are usually better looking than most.

It has that Euro hipster guy crowd, I just ignore them.

It can be hot with alot of smoke in the air.

They pour the liquor on top as was reported earlier so stir your drink or the first sip is a strong one.

I don't know why the club is not as busy earlier compared to Taipan and the others.

Just my two cents.

Yip not a personal statement, just a general observation having gone in there almost every night when I lived in patong (usually with urtheman) but I stand by what i say

Alot of the girls are a bit aloof and aint so forward at pedaling for business and i aint seen alot of old hags in there thats for sure, other than the toilet lady

Also the more u go in the more the staff know ur face that goes along way to getting a little better service

The thing is bar service in patong is truly excellent compared to farangland, whereas Baya bar service is at farang level (shite)

I agree with urtheman as well the italian, french and usually stupid Russians, best to ignore them (had plent run ins myself in there), all the girls no the cnuts are kinao anyway

N1 chill and dont take it so personal, just my opinion is different from yours

I really do hate the place myself! Its my place to avoid in the whole world.

I always seem to get aggro there too. Like the time Nicke and Ead forced me to go there with the Hobbsey and a few others! I had some local girl shout at me for a few min because I supposidly called her a Ladyboy!!?????? But I didn't. All I said was that piece of hallibat was good enough for Johobah!?

But The hobbs knew her, so I still have my instinct that he got her to do it, cos of my glasses!:ytounge:
