Both image formats are supported on the server. .png -portable network graphics, .jpg jpeg, is smaller is size and displays faster. .PNG is more versatile and allows transparencies The X image is a default image displayed by the file server when it can't find the desired image in the posting.

The file format isn't the cause, the HTML code to reference the picture file is the problem. The steps used in the editor to attach the image is the probable cause. Copy image vs copy image link.
