Actually, the German engineers were the best. The US only built the Atomic Bomb out of fear the Germans were building it so it became a race. It was the Germans that built the V2 Rocket, the first jet fighter plane, the Tiger tank, etc. their mistake was that they focused on quality over quantity so they couldn’t build enough fast enough and when they broke down in the field they couldn’t be repaired easily. Both the Americans and Russian scrambled at the end of the war to find all those scientists and engineers that worked on the V2 to build their own rockets.
