Australian RnB HipHop DJ coming to Patong

Hey Guys and Gals,

I'm coming to Thailand and staying in Patong from the 23rd of May till the 3rd of June.

I'm keen to DJ at a couple fo the clubs there can anyone recomend any clubs that RnB and HipHop would suit that I should hit up for a spin??

I'm not just some random shit DJ, I'm 1 of 6 Canberra Allstars I have played many gigs big and small and am resident DJ at 3 of Canberra biggest night clubs, one of which is rated as Australia's 3rd best (academy) Not trying to blow my own horn just don't want to come across as a some random.

If anyone could let me know where and who I should speak to that would be great!

Pleanty of Thai DJ's, why on earth do you think they will need you?

oh and legally you need a work permit even if you do not get paid.

Jeez, I don't think that they "need" me I was jsut keen to have a spin if any clubs were keen to let me, Places like Mint and Seduction seemed half keen I didn't get any attidude from them.

Sadly its true....If you as much as stand on a podium let alone spin a disk withouit a WP you could be deported...even if you aren't being paid.....such are the LOS immigration rules

Because Thai immigration laws say that any job that can be done by a Thai is one that a WP cannot be issued for....

truly th only way you are gonna get to DJ is by doing it illegally and running the risk or being sponsored by someone like Seduction or Club Lime

getting exhausted now DJ....but they'd need to send you a contract etc and you'd have to show it to the embassy along with your WP application......as i said highly unlikely

Money is not the definition of being paid.. After the Tsunami they threatened to deport and blacklist the 100's of farangs here helping rebuild !! Crazy and insulting at the time.

Sure places may let you.. Its not them that goes to jail if your caught. Really the hassle if this goes wrong is mega high, and you could very easily get caught up in someone elses bar against bar vendetta..

While the chance isnt massively likely, is sinning some choons worth days or weeks in a 3rd world jail.. I had a buddy who ended up in the immigration detention pen and he was in dire straights..

Getting a work permit is a massive headache.. Realistically its not likely for the scene your talking about. However lime would have the best idea how they legalize thier visiting DJ's, or if they have some paid to firmly turn a blind eye.

I'm waiting on a call back from the Royal Thai Embassy, ill see what they say, I think if it is going to be such a issue thou that I will give it a miss, I know I am going to have a good time over there regardless of weather I Dj or not.

I was just keen cos early last year my mate, one of the other canberra allstars (such a wank title) came over there and Dj'ed at the full moon party and mint bar with Dj Cash Money.

FMP is lawless.. No ones going to get busted there.. Drugged and mugged perhaps but busted no..

Samui is also an island that tends to have less care for the rules.. Only a couple of years back mushroom omelets were on many a beach restaurant menu..

Phukets a bit more mainstream tourism and nightlife P4P tourism.. Not that Samui doesnt have that only that the demographic is a bit more skewed to backpacker tourism.

We all know that foreign DJs are supposed to have a WP to play here but thats for the Promoter to sort out. I think the guys came down too hard on you for asking but they give important info to make sure you don't get yourself in unwanted trouble.
