If i was staying a long time in Thailand then yeah i would agree with that totally.... but just as a visitor for a couple of weeks at a time i wouldnt worry personally about a couple of hundread baht...

Anyway CS you teach them better... If there is one person that can do it then i believe your the man... Oh by the way you got any more pics to post... Havent seen any from you lately mate :embrassed

Well, 200 Baht to 500 Baht in 15 months is a hell of a lot of inflation, IMHO.

Wow!! This is all news to me!!

In five tours dating from Jan 02 to Apr /06, I've only paid more than 200 Baht BF once in a beer bar, which was my first week in LOS in Patong in '02 at Honey Bar on Bangla Road(R.I.P.).

This winter tour from Jan to Apr, I took girls from Bars in Hua Hin and was charged 200 in one bar, and nothing in two other bars. In BKK, where 600 is the going rate, I only paid it once at a gogo, just went to FL bars the rest of the time, after drinking beer and ogling girls in the gogos. In Patong, picked up an off-work BG at Tiger and kept her for the duration. Paid her 1500/night and never paid a BF, but I guess that was the equivalent of 1000 Baht/night with the BF that some of these places seem to be getting now. In Cambodia, it was $2.00 for ST, and standard was $5.00 LT, but twice I paid $7.00(but that girl was special ). And, at the end of the night, when you tell the bartender to put the $5.00 on your tab for the girl, all the other girls, who didn't get BFed that night, cheer for you!! :biggrinlo:

Over the last couple of years there has been so much talk here about only paying 1000 Baht per night, but I would much rather pay the girl 1500 and the bar 200, than pay the bar 500 and the girl 1000. Of course, on my '05 tour, it was often 1000 Baht and no BF. When I did pay a BF, it was only 200, which was the going rate in '05. I was never asked for more, and BFed tons of girls that tour!

Why is it that guys who don't want to pay the girl more, seem happy to pay the bar more?

P.S. I like Nicke's style. He is a smart businessman. You know where I'll be spending my money! And it looks as if I may even have to toss out my rule about BFing MTB girls!!

Hey everybody!!! Well its been a while since i've been out and about in Patong, work has been keeping me busy so quite frankly haven't had the time to go to all the nightspots and when i do have the time i've been too tired and lazy as i don't live in patong anyway. Well before i go off on a tangent i will get straight to the point.

Have some friend's visiting from australia at the moment, gotta feel sorry for them as they've been here for 5 days and its been raining for most of their holiday. Well they have 5 days to go so wish them luck....

Anyway, we all went out to Patong on Saturday night, started with a couple of drinks at the holiday inn terrazzo bar (spelling could be off), then as none of them had even seen a ping pong show, i had to painfully take them to see the Ping Pong show.... As it is something i always recommend, i think if you come to thailand you have to see this, but really just once is enough... Brought a couple of girls to see it once, some of them felt sick to their stomachs after... I always wondered how the show girls did what they did, but i don't have a you know what so i'll never be able to know... Even the girls couldn’t figure it out.. i guess caucasian girls are not as talented in that area :ytounge:

Well since there was a group of us, the boys loved it and found it to be a good laugh and the girls couldn't stop talkin about it... especially the needles and razor blades.... I've been there many times but always forget the name... But i think ************ is right next door.... On soi ********... Moving right along, from there we ventured over to Tiger (the upstairs bit) to check out the scene, not too bad quite busy but definitely can tell the difference between high and low season...

We had our 2 drink coupon drinks and went downstairs... We went to the bar on the left of bunny bar i think... Its the first bar on the left if you're walking into the tiger bar area from bangla rd. Now i've been to this bar before, i speak to the mamasan when i go there cause i've picked up there before... Now heres the interesting thing... First time i picked up a girl from there, no bar fine... She was working that night thats for sure as i had to wait for her to change.... Second time i went there the mamasan asked me for a bar fine of 500bht, i told her i would give her 300bht and she agreed.... Now on Saturday was my third visit to the place and well i was going to pick up a lady when the mamasan quoted me a barfine of 500bht...:bangin: I asked her for 300bht and she said no.... : :mad2:

Now i understand 500 - 600 is the norm in go gos but this is a normal bar/beer bar/ lady bar whatever you wanna call it... It just didn't make sense... Now not that its a big deal if you really want the lady but just came across as a shock... Plus we all know theres many fish in the sea so why bother... Ok to finish my blabber, we went on to banana to finish the night... And no i did not pick up from the bar... Not willing to pay the 500bht, call me cheap, call me whatever you want but i don't see why someone should pay 500bht at a normal bar... maybe i just looked like i was out hunting that night who knows...

Anyone else come across this same issue???

Why do you say R.I.P. for Honey bar? Is it closed now...it wasn't last year...that was one of our regular haunts...do like the Blue Lotus bar for a good oggle at the LBs in the evening!!!

Hi there, and especially Dawsey and family . . .

As far as Bar Fines are concerned, I think 200 BHT is more than enough!

Especially in March / April, when there is little hope of new people arriving in Bars, ready to party and drink after Midnight.

I have seen guys paying the 200 BHT Bar Fine to the Bar, around 15 minutes before the Bar closed for the night! . . .And they were the only patrons there!

There has been alot of discussions about bar fines before. Even in bar beers where a girl is on salary, the bar fine will be 500 baht, and this is the way it has been for sometime.

well, sorry to disagree. people can do with their money what they want, but fi someone has to save the extra 100-200baht because they are staying longer, than maybe they shouldnt be staying in thailand long-time

I don't drink to excess so only makes a small difference but a range of 50 to 100 bhat for a same brand beer or 100 to 140 or 160 for a bacardi breezer highlights that some bars are taking the piss on prices. Amazingly the 100 bacardi breezer was in Banana disco which suprised me.

Anyhow sod the drinks.....good to actually meet a few BMs this tip.

Belive the BF we discussed here was 500thb and if i BF girls for 500thb a day during a 3 month trip i have to spend about 45000thb in just BF´s .. (add 1000thb LT , food and drink , living etc. oh my Buddah ) .. i "earn" about 55000thb a month from the "goverment" as im sort of retired .. see my point?

I understand you and i dont have the same financial background and never will but i atleast have the time to stay long-time in LOS and i will keep on doing that as looong as i can!

Agree that bar fines are 500bht, but we found that when you drink at a bar reguarly, the cost goes down. One bar charged 400bht, or nothing if only short time and another bar we liked to drink at in Soi Viking wher i would take the girl behind the bar (Saaw) I would only be charged 200bht.

And if so then the bar fine has been 500bt in there for a long time, And its not the only bar under there who charge that price, Crazy Horse also charge 500/600bt and there is another one in there (cant think of the name of it)... I personally would not pay it unless they were absolute stunners....

I actually feel a bit disappointed with most other bars, they charge more and more (not only barfines, but for drinks and beers aswell) but I want to keep Phuket as a cheap place. I know for sure that many long time visitors for sure will abandon Patong when everything cost more than rest of Thailand. I still keep fair prices while a lot of others charge a lot more these days.

I have to say I do understand bars that charge more, as the cost of lease and rent here is higher than other places. But I dont want that direction.

So for the time being, I can honestly say MTB is cheaper than many others bars around bangla and I have no intention to charge more as long I make my living.
